Technology is constantly advancing and improving. These advances are helping people all over the world to communicate, operate, and function. New programs and platforms continue to be developed for advancing daily use.

Most of us already use some sort of AI, or artificial intelligence. From virtual assistance at home to play music or turn on the lights to a GPS system in your car.

AI is becoming mainstream with technological advancements all the time. Google Bard is also the counterpart to Microsoft’s ChatGPT system. Bard is an interactive chat service.

What is Google Bard?

Google Bard is a revolutionary new tool recently unveiled at the Google I/O 2023 conference. This cutting-edge technology is designed to make it easier than ever before for people to create engaging, high-quality content.

With Google Bard, users will be able to generate text that is both informative and entertaining, all with the help of advanced AI algorithms that are constantly learning and improving.

Whether you’re an aspiring writer, a content marketer, or simply someone who wants to share their ideas with the world, Google Bard is an excellent tool that can help you achieve your goals.

It can create content for marketing, college essays, and help generate ideas for your creative writing. It’s still in its infantry, but generating a lot of interest around the world.

How Does Google Bard Work?

While the two systems seem similar and do function in the same manner, the biggest difference is that ChatGPT is fed information, and Google Bard retrieves its information for the internet.

This makes perfect sense when you think about it. When you think about looking something up, you tend to think of Google. The word Google has become a verb.

The system is based on Google’s very own LLM (Large Language Model), known as LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). And, not unlike ChatGPT, the engineers at Google have trained LaMDA on hundreds of billions of parameters.

This allows the AI system to “learn” natural language on its own. The result is a chatbot that can answer any question in natural and conversational language that is appropriate for all users.

Bard continues to be a prototype but is constantly advancing and is becoming available in many more languages. It will be available in upwards of 40 different languages and is accessible worldwide.

Using Google Bard

Using Google Bard is simple. You only need to access your Google account and it is available to start working for you. It is mostly just an open text field and you can type in anything you want.

Providing the question you ask isn’t against their rules of protocol, you can find pretty much anything you want. But, unlike simply Googling something, you can add much more text.

Look up recipes, maps, search for text and creative ideas, or anything else you are curious about. Once you do, you should see other options, as well. Bard should provide you with one or two other options.

This is also unique to Bard. if you don’t find all three options to your liking, you can regenerate these for more options. If you get the same results, simply ask the prompt in a different way.

You can also use Bard to code. You just need to export the information to Replit by clicking the share icon under an answer from Bard and then choose where you want it exported to.

What is Google Bard Used For?

Google Bard can be used for a variety of purposes, including creative writing, music composition, and even as a great tool to learn a new language. It is used for essays, poetry, emails, newsletters, and anything else where people want to generate text or code.

Because it is powered by artificial intelligence, Google Bard has the ability to generate a wide range of unique and creative works that can inspire and entertain users.

It also uses the internet so users have access to almost endless data that already exists. In early testing, the system made an error, which caused some concern, but as we all know, never believe everything you read on the internet.

For this reason, you should never rely entirely on the information generated as complete. Make sure you check it, especially if you are using it for a professional outcome.

Look up information, images, text, and anything else you need. Prompt it to write your latest sales promotion, a review, or ask it for ways to substitute butter for oil.

Limitations

As Google Bard is still in its testing stage, there are going to be snags and limitations. One of the biggest limitations is its inability to save the chat information once you close the page.

Accuracy is also a concern, simply because it uses its own source, the internet. With access to so much data, it is bound to find false or inaccurate results. This is why you need to check your answers before using them outright.

The good news about the errors is that the system is very new, so it will be under constant upgrades and supervision. Because it is so very new, it can only be improved upon.

Google Bard vs ChatGPT

Both of these systems come with their own advantages and disadvantages. Bard has access to much more data via the internet, where ChatGPT uses information that has been programmed in. Both are fallible.

Because Bard is a Google creation, it not only has access to the information there, but you can also choose to simply ask Google for more results from the Bard page.

ChatGPT tends to be more conversational in its replies. ChatGPT can also save all your searches, whereas Bard cannot, but you can export them to save them elsewhere on your device.

AI is the Future

People all over the world are finding great and creative ways of using Google Bard every day. It’s free to use with your Google account and while the debate rages on about its ethics, it is here to stay.

By now, you have likely heard about ChatGPT. While variations of this have been around for many years, in the past five or so years, it has become much more advanced.

Most of us have likely used the ‘talk and type’ program on our phones, Google Docs, and other messaging applications. But it has advanced to be able to dictate and write complete documents.

It’s not all that new. Many private citizens and companies use devices that you can simply ask to play a song or dim the lights. Smart features like appliances and security systems have been around for years.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT initially used a Microsoft Azure supercomputing infrastructure. This was powered by Nvidia GPUs, built by Microsoft specifically for OpenAI. A system like this costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

Of course, the cost doesn’t end there. These systems need constant monitoring and upkeep. There are many moving parts and because they are all new, there are many of these parts that fail.

This is common with anything new. And certainly not surprising when you consider the scope and magnitude of this system. Following the success of ChatGPT, Microsoft dramatically upgraded the OpenAI infrastructure early this year.

Microsoft is not new to AI. From automatic spell check and correction to language interpreters to allowing your virtual assistant to make coffee, these tools have only been advancing.

Once these AI capabilities started to improve, the company then used its expertise in high-performance computing to scale up infrastructure across its Azure cloud to allow customers to use its AI tools to build, train and serve custom AI applications.

They are also able to use more powerful graphics processing units, known as GPUs. Because these GPUs could handle more complex AI workloads, they began to understand the potential for much larger AI models.

These larger models could be programmed to understand nuances so well they were able to tackle many different language tasks at once. Of course, these larger models also had limitations.

The bigger the model, the more data it would require. But this also means you can train the model longer and that would make it more accurate. Bigger infrastructure that runs longer is what was needed.

Azure

Microsoft Azure is essentially a cloud computing system. Like others, Azure provides access, management, and development of applications and services through global data centers.
It allows a wide range of capabilities, including software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Azure supports many programming languages, tools, and frameworks, which include Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems.

The Azure infrastructure is what allowed Microsoft to build bigger and better machines that would run longer. This meant they were able to build up the data the system would need to function as it is needed to provide AI services.

These new and improved Azure AI supercomputing technologies allow them to accelerate breakthroughs in AI, deliver on the promise of large language models, and help expand AI’s benefits are shared broadly.

Next Step for Azure

Back in 2019, Microsoft and OpenAI entered a partnership which continues today, to collaborate on new Azure AI supercomputing technologies. The goal was to accelerate breakthroughs in AI, deliver on the promise of large language models, and help ensure AI’s benefits are shared broadly.

They worked together to build supercomputing resources in Azure that were designed and dedicated to allow OpenAI to train an expanding suite of increasingly powerful AI models.

This infrastructure included thousands of NVIDIA AI-optimized GPUs linked together in a high-throughput, low-latency network based on NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand communications for high-performance computing.

Thousands and thousands of pages of data were programmed into the system over and over again to build up enough language to make almost anything possible. The more information the system has, the better it can function.

Azure Features

Now, Azure is equipped with ND H100 v5 VM to allow on-demand in sizes ranging from eight to thousands of NVIDIA H100 GPUs interconnected by NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. Customers will see significantly faster performance for AI models over our last generation ND A100 v4 VMs with innovative technologies like:

8x NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs interconnected via next-gen
NVSwitch and NVLink 4.0

400 Gb/s NVIDIA Quantum-2 CX7 InfiniBand per GPU with 3.2Tb/s per
VM in a non-blocking fat-tree network

NVSwitch and NVLink 4.0 with 3.6TB/s bisectional bandwidth between
8 local GPUs within each VM

4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors

PCIE Gen5 host to GPU interconnect with 64GB/s bandwidth per GPU

16 Channels of 4800MHz DDR5 DIMMs

To quote Mustafa Suleyman, CEO, Inflection:
“Our focus on conversational AI requires us to develop and train some of the most complex large language models. Azure’s AI infrastructure provides us with the necessary performance to efficiently process these models reliably at a huge scale. We are thrilled about the new VMs on Azure and the increased performance they will bring to our AI development efforts.”

To quote Mustafa Suleyman, CEO, Inflection:

AI is Here to Stay

Although we are hearing more and more about ChatGPT and AI, it is still in its infancy. There have been outages and failures along the way, but that is to be expected.

However, as technology continues to advance, you can expect only better and faster AI and ChatGPT. There are more branches of Azure to make AI supercomputers accessible to customers for model training and Azure OpenAI Service allows customers access to the power of large-scale generative AI models.

Microsoft Azure offers services that comply with multiple compliance programs, including ISO 27001:2005 and HIPAA. You can find a detailed and up-to-date list of these services on the Microsoft Azure Trust Center Compliance page.

It’s moving quickly into the mainstream and it won’t be long before most businesses and even individuals are using ChatGPT for almost all their daily needs.

Building the metaverse is a balance between privacy, security, open technologies and business, and it must be handled correctly. In the same panel discussion that we reported on previously we have this interesting quote from Neal Stephenson.

Who is going to develop it? It is sort of the decentralized bottom-up organic growth model versus the centralized top-down approach, and each has its advantages. In my way of thinking, it doesn’t happen unless you create an open system that is kind of analogous to the open web or the early internet where anybody who is interested can latch on to a shared protocol and begin to build what they want to build. A lot of what people build is going to go nowhere, but some of it is going to be taken up and embraced and used by large numbers of people.

Neal Stephenson – LAMINA1

Neal Stephenson

And to finish it off we have this quote from Chris Cox of Facebook discussing the Killer App for the metaverse.

Workrooms is an example of a piece of software that we build to allow folks to have meetings in VR. So, you put on a headset and rather than a zoom call or a skype meeting you can actually get together and have an experience of being together in a room. It’s an avatar that is rendered as a body, but you have spatial audio and you can see body movements and you can see hand gestures, so rather than seeing faces in front of you, you have presence.

We view the feeling of presence as the essential ingredient for the user experience for something that feels metaverse-like.

Workrooms for us has been the “Killer App” of something that is really a meaningful reason to put a headset on in a work context.

Chris Cox on the “Killer App” for the metaverse.

A fascinating panel discussion on “building the metaverse” coming out of WEF23 that covered a wide variety of aspects on the metaverse.

First off is the question of whether or not the metaverse is device dependent? Will it only be accessible via VR headsets and AR glasses? Or will people be able access it on normal laptops and smartphones? In the video clip below, Chris Cox from Facebook gives his take:

Given the recent forecasts for an economic downturn and the tech-sector selloff in the marketplace, investors are looking for some insight into how Google and its parent company Alphabet are navigating this challenging environment.

This is an analysis of the question and answer (Q&A) section of their 2022 Q3 earnings conference call. By looking at what questions are asked, and how they are answered, we may glean some insight into future Google earnings.

Question 1

Sundar, first, I think what investors are very curious about is how much this change in terms of aligning investment against your priorities is a reflection of what you expect to happen over the next 6 to 12 months in the broader macro environment versus a longer term perspective of maybe maximizing for productivity and efficiency. Would love to get your philosophy on that.

And then, Philipp, a lot of comments in there about YouTube and the potential for growth going forward. Can you go a little bit deeper on what you’re seeing in terms of both the opportunity set to drive revenue and turn a possible headwind to a tailwind with respect to Shorts and Connected TV over the medium to long term.

Eric Sheridan of Goldman Sachs

Here we see a very positive question from Goldman focusing on long-term management of growth as well as opportunities to turn headwinds into tailwinds.

What I take from this is Goldman is long GOOG/GOOGL and is probing for the positive outlook.

Question 2

Sundar, just to go back to the comment about earlier in the quarter, becoming 20% more efficient. I thought tonight, your comment on investing responsibly over the long term of being responsive to the environment is helpful. If I look at sort of the Excel sheet, I think you’ll have added about 51,000 new people to the company since the start of last year.

Can you give us some examples of internal KPIs or quantifiable analysis you’re running just to ensure you’re generating ROI for investors from all your hiring as you sort of run through these analyses? That’s the first one. Then the second one, Philipp, just on Shorts, are you seeing Shorts lead to incremental time spent from those users, or is it more so you’re seeing the time shift from other forms of YouTube over to Shorts?

Brian Nowak of Morgan Stanley

So here, we have a very intelligent analyst asking to extremely important questions.

The first is about the massive headcount growth over the last year and Brian is essentially saying “hey, can you provide some quantitative data showing that you need to be hiring all these people … that they actually provide a return on investment”.

The second is about YouTube’s focus on “Shorts”, and he’s essentially asking “Hey, are Shorts helping YouTube make money or are they hurting profits by forcing views away from higher-earning videos or causing viewers to watch less overall”. I suspect this question is inspired from Meta’s failure with it’s Instagram “Reels”. Everyone seems to be trying to copy TikTok, but nobody has done it successfully, and instead the copies have the potential to hurt revenue of established successful business models.

Ok, on to management responses (or non-responses, as we’ll see).

Here’s Sundar, completely ignoring Brian’s first question:

Brian, I think — look, I think we gave some — we’ve been clear that we are going to moderate our pace of hiring going into Q4 as well as 2023. I think we are seeing a lot of opportunities across a whole set of areas. And every time, talent is the most precious resource, so we are constantly working to make sure everyone we’ve brought in is working on the most important things as a company and particularly so. And that’s a lot of what sharpening our focus has been about.

We are reviewing projects at all scales pretty granularly to make sure we have the right plans there, and based on that, the right resourcing and making course corrections. And this will be an ongoing thing. It is something we’ll continue doing going into ‘23 as well.

Sundar Pichai of Alphabet

Sundar basically says “we are slowing down hiring, but we pay attention to what we’re doing”. Notice how he provides no metrics or data that Brian requested and ignores the core point of the question. If it was for competitive reasons, he can always say “we don’t give out that data for competitive reasons”, but instead he was just silent. In my opinion, Sundar didn’t want to focus on it for a reason …

Now, Google’s CBO, Philipp Schindler gives a round-about non-answer to the second question on YouTube Shorts and whether or not they help or hurt the business. Spoiler: he frames a negative result in a positive light.

Yes. And to the second part of the question, as we discussed before, we’ve always focused on building a great user and creator experience first, followed by increasing monetization over time. We continued to experience a slight headwind to revenues as Shorts viewership grew as a percentage of total YouTube watch time. And as I alluded to earlier, the initial progress on Shorts monetization has been encouraging. And we’re focused on closing the monetization gap between Shorts and long-form content on YouTube over time. And more specifically, consumers are increasingly consuming short-form video, and we’re seeing this across multiple platforms, including YouTube. And as I said earlier, Shorts are being watched by 1. 5 billion-plus logged-in users every month.

Philipp Schindler of Google

So, while Philipp never directly answers Brian’s question “are Shorts causing an increase in time watched or are they diverting from other videos”, he does give some hints that Shorts are underperforming classical YouTube from a revenue perspective, and they goes on to give some data that may sound positive because it includes large numbers, but it really doesn’t mean much unless you have additional data to interpret the relative value between including a Shorts product and not including a Shorts product. In my opinion, Philipp didn’t answer the question directly for a reason …

Question 3

Next we get a question on Google Cloud from Doug Anmuth of JP Morgan Chase. Ruth Porat, gives a straight answer basically saying Cloud is doing well, they continue to invest significantly, and continue to expect it to grow. See the transcript for the details. In my opinion, straight question and straight answer.

Question 4

Here is an excellent question about TikTok’s impact on Google’s core search business. It is also excellently dodged by Sundar Pichai.

Sundar, one for you and then one for you, Ruth. I’m going to ask you about TikTok but not as it relates to YouTube, more about Search. It looks like younger consumers are spending more time on TikTok searching for product reviews, recommendations, advice. I’m interested in learning if you’ve seen any changes in your search behavior by demographics in Google. And then, do you think search has become more visual, less text-based going forward in order to maintain more relevance for its younger users? So that’s one.

Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson

Here Michael is basically saying “Is Google losing search advertising revenue to TikTok? All the young kids are searching TikTok and getting their results in video form, is this having a material impact on Google’s core business?”.

Sundar chooses to dodge the question by giving a vague answer on improving visual search. However, in his answer we can see they are attempting to innovate, which means they see TikTok as a threat to their core business, we just can’t quantify how much of an impact it is having. Here’s his full answer:

Look, I think it’s always important that we try and understand our user segments and their needs so that we can make sure the products are helpful and working for them. And we ourselves conduct thousands of studies a year to understand how user needs are evolving. And as part of it, there are some studies which obviously show people, particularly younger users in certain categories, maybe fashion inspiration as an example, look for more visual ways to engage.

And so, these are all learnings we are constantly taking in and we use it to improve Search. And if you saw Search On, we had many explorations and product directions, which move in that direction. So, I think it’s a healthy way of iterating and innovating to build the best products and services for our users.

Sundar Pichai of Alphabet

We’ll end the analysis there as the rest of the questions are straightforward with straightforward answers from management. I encourage everyone to either listen to the call or read the transcript. Links to both are provided below.

We are starting to see evidence of how the Inflation Reduction Act is causing investments by the energy industry.

New Fortress Energy is already building a new Green Hydrogen plant in Beaumont Texas that will take advantage of the $3/kg tax credit made. possible by the Inflation Reduction Act.

Highlights from the New Fortress Energy Q3 conference call:

Initial focus of clean hydrogen is to be selling to the refining and petrochemicals industry. Big impact on CO2 reduction there.

Very early days of clean hydrogen.

First Movers in the industry are being built NOW.

Beaumont plant to be first of 5 plants. Beaumont to be operational in 2024.

Using electrolyzers from Plug Power

Renewable power supplied by Entergy

IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) to spur more than $4 Trillion in investment by industry.

Inexhaustible demand for green hydrogen.

Production of Green Hydrogen has currently been a hobby, but the IRA makes it an economically viable market.

These are the three slides on Hydrogen from the Q3 conference call.

Hydrogen has been labeled the ultimate clean fuel for decades, but until now there has been no path towards developing it economically and cleanly. All that can now change due to the growth in clean alternative energy generation from Wind, Solar, and even controversial Carbon Capture technology.

Hydrogen is most commonly produced by electrolysis or Steam Methane Reforming (SMR). The electrolysis process itself is a clean process, the challenge has been obtaining clean energy to power the electrolysis process. With the world now having significant power generation from Wind and Solar, it now becomes feasible to create hydrogen from these new sources of power.

Why Hydrogen?

Why would you want to create Hydrogen from renewable power instead of just using renewable power? Well, you can think of hydrogen as stored energy that can be used later on demand. The disadvantages of Wind and Solar center around matching generation with demand. By converting the storing that energy in the form of hydrogen, it solves that matching problem.

Types of Clean Hydrogen

Green Hydrogen

Green Hydrogen is defined as hydrogen produced entirely from clean energy such as Wind or Solar.

Blue Hydrogen

Blue Hydrogen is defined as hydrogen produced from fossil fuel sources such as Natural Gas, but paired with technologies such as Carbon Capture so as to effectively remove the pollution from the process. The main bottleneck to adoption of Blue Hydrogen has been economically viable solutions to integrate Carbon Capture.

Market Outlook

Due to the Inflation Reduction Act, 2022 is expected to be the start of major investment growth in the hydrogen market, up to 4 Trillion dollars invested by industry according to some estimates.

Currently, the market for hydrogen is localized to industries that require it as input – industries such as petrochemicals and refining. However, if hydrogen can be created cheaply then it can be used as a replacement for fossil fuels, which means the worldwide applications are enormous. Before that transition can take place, the full supply and demand markets must be created.

With the IRA offering a $3/kg credit for the production of clean hydrogen, companies now have a viable economic incentive to create a supply of hydrogen, thus spurring correlated investments in the demand markets. Ultimately the hope is for engineering efficiencies to be leveraged and the $3/kg credit will no longer be needed to support the investment in supply.

The post Massive Investment in Green and Blue Hydrogen Infrastructure first appeared on MetaverseWatcher.

The United States Congress recently passed the Inflation Reduction Act, otherwise known as the IRA, and President Biden signed it into law on August 16, 2022.

One of the core focal elements of the bill is investments in clean energy. One way to do this is to offer consumers tax incentives and rebates for purchasing energy efficient goods such as electric cars and appliances. Another way is to invest in businesses that build clean energy goods and develop new technology.

Development of Clean Hydrogen – Green hydrogen and Blue hydrogen – is one of the major positive results of the Inflation Reduction Act. There is now an economic incentive for major companies to develop sources of clean hydrogen. As the supply of cheaper clean hydrogen increases, new use-cases will be found and ultimately a much larger market for clean hydrogen will develop. Once that market is created, the subsidies may be removed and the market can become self-sustaining. Hydrogen is a wonderful fuel source, but in addition to cost, creating enough hydrogen fuel in a clean way has been a major barrier.

Here are just a few of the incentives that the Inflation Reduction Act provides to consumers:

$1,000 electric vehicle tax credits for families.

$14,000 in direct rebates for energy efficient appliances such as heat pumps.

30% tax credit on solar roof installations

$7,500 tax credit for new electric vehicles and $4,000 for used electric vehicles

Direct investment in the Clean Energy Industry, made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, will result in:

950 million solar panels by 2030

120,000 wind turbines by 2030

2,300 grid-scale battery plants by 2030

Support rural electric cooperatives that serve 42 million people

Wyoming has become the first state in the USA to address the legalities of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, otherwise known as DAOs.

If other states follow in Wyoming’s footsteps, this could pave the way for industry-wide acceptance of how to integrate the DAO organizational structure that is so popular in Ethereum and DeFi developer communities.

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon signed bill SF0038 into law on April 21, 2021 and the bill became effective later that year on July 1, 2021.

The bill allows for DAOs to exist as a special type of LLC, or Limited Liability Corporation. It also allows for existing LLCs to elect to become a DAO. In order to be registered as a DAO LLC, the bill requires, among other things, the following:

Registration of Smart Contract addresses

Statement on how the DAO is governed, including the extent to which any governance is automated.

Election of “member managed” or “algorithmically managed”

“DAO LLC” must be included in the title of the organization

What advantage is there from registering as a DAO LLC instead of simply an LLC? One reason may be in membership responsibilities. In a DAO, members do not necessarily have a fiduciary responsibility to the LLC.

One important note is that DAOs may only be formed for lawful activities, and the bill allows the Secretary of State to dissolve the DAO LLC if it is determined to no longer serve a lawful purpose.

Today, in the United States alone, the manufacturing industry generates over $1 trillion in annual revenue and employs more than 12 million people.

The future of manufacturing looks bright, especially when considering how technology will continue to transform production in the coming years through the use of emerging technologies like virtual reality and 3D printing.

How will manufacturing companies use these new technologies? This article explores how one aspect of the manufacturing industry will be affected by emerging technology—the Metaverse as it relates to manufacturing companies.

Massive Model Storage

Why haven’t you heard about 3D printing and all its possibilities until now? Well, there is a good reason for that. As it stands, 3D printers have only been able to print extremely basic shapes.

In order to create anything more complex, you need to manually modify them (and you wouldn’t want that). Now, however, researchers at Columbia University have found a way to store digital 3D models and transform them into physical objects by fusing sand or plastic dust into layers.

This new technique will enable production of huge objects such as cars in a matter of hours instead of days or months. The same method could be used on smaller scales for everything from medical devices (printed prosthetics) to everyday products like computer parts and iPhone cases.

Virtual Reality Training

VR creates an opportunity for companies to train their employees on-demand, without worrying about limits on space or time. For example, engineers can simulate an installation and test out different tactics before building a prototype.

Similarly, sales teams can rehearse their pitches in a virtual environment, perfecting each word before meeting with clients in person. There are plenty of ways manufacturing companies will take advantage of VR; it’s up to you to imagine them!

The possibilities extend far beyond training. By creating an immersive experience, manufacturers can create marketing opportunities that were previously impossible or very expensive to produce. Imagine being able to hold a customer’s hand as they walk through your factory and watch your product come together from start to finish!

It might sound like science fiction now, but it’ll be reality sooner than you think. To get ready for the future of manufacturing, here are some things you should consider

Collaborative Design

As 3D printing and product development continue to evolve, we’ll see a decrease in large-scale manufacturing. Most consumer products will be designed in small batches by manufacturers or design firms and then distributed digitally to consumers.

Mass production has already begun shifting toward small batch production, with many companies releasing new models every few months or even weeks. The only difference is that today these companies release it through brick-and-mortar retailers instead of digitally.

When 3D printing becomes more widespread, these designs can be released at once digitally with each iteration adding new layers of functionality to each model, completely changing how consumers interact with products and manufacturers alike.

Advanced Mold Design and Analysis

The world is changing and manufacturing businesses are adapting to reflect that. In times past, machining was a labor-intensive task that required much physical force.

But with computer-assisted design (CAD) systems, it’s now possible to design a part on a computer and then build it using 3D printing or some other kind of advanced manufacturing process. The ability to use CAD makes it easier than ever for businesses to make parts at their own factories—or even in their customers’ facilities—instead of outsourcing all production work to an outside vendor.

Although 3D printing and additive manufacturing technologies have gained widespread adoption in recent years, many manufacturers are still struggling with one big problem: Designing these new kinds of parts properly so they can be built at scale efficiently by machines.

Rapid Prototyping

A 3D printer can allow you to make a physical, tangible model from your idea in just hours. This is called rapid prototyping and it’s going to change how we approach manufacturing for good. Instead of investing millions in a single product before you know if it will work, companies will be able to rapidly test out new ideas on 3D printers.

The initial investment in building a prototype is minimal and as soon as a design gets approved, you’ll have an inexpensive machine that makes mass production cheaper than ever before. And because of metaverse technology, you won’t even need to print each part individually. You can print them all at once with a single command.

In addition to reducing costs associated with prototyping and production, 3D printing also opens up opportunities for consumers to customize their products like never before.

When consumers are involved in every step of creating their own products, they feel more connected to them—they want them more! —and that results in higher sales volume across multiple industries (just look at Etsy).

Quality Assurance

High quality assurance is a must for any manufacturing company, no matter how big or small. To make sure you’re shipping a quality product, you can use software to test and analyze every aspect of your product—the materials used in its construction, how much stress it can withstand, etc.

By using virtual reality (VR) simulations for testing, companies can save on overhead costs and improve efficiency. You could even conduct virtual hands-on trials by allowing customers to try out their products before they purchase them.

Inventory Management

Improved inventory management will mean decreased excess inventories and faster delivery times. Retailers can see exactly where an item is at any given time. In addition, consumer habits can be used to reduce excess inventory.

If a product isn’t selling well in store A, it can be moved to store B, making sure that more products are moving and aren’t sitting in boxes gathering dust. This could drastically cut costs for businesses since they won’t have to carry as much dead weight around with them all day.

Order Tracking & Fulfillment

The main advantage that virtual reality will provide manufacturing companies is immediate order tracking and fulfillment.

Virtual reality will allow customers to see exactly what they are ordering, at each stage in its creation, so that they can confirm it was made according to their specifications before authorizing payment.

This immediacy will help eliminate problems such as errors in communication or interpretation. If an issue does arise, companies can quickly make adjustments before further production begins and avoid shipping faulty products out to customers.

The post The Industrial Metaverse: a Brave New Future of Manufacturing first appeared on MetaverseWatcher.
