Sol Protocol Hits Quest Early Access September 17 for $9.99

Sol Protocol opens Early Access on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S on September 17, 2026. Singular Perception (the studio behind Epyka) locked the date and a $9.99 pre-order price that rises to $12.99 at full release. SteamVR is still targeted for October 2026.

Per UploadVR and VR.org, the pitch is a three-player space roguelike: you and two friends take interchangeable pilot, gunner, and engineer seats on a ship called the Pathfinder, push through procedurally generated star systems, fight randomized encounters, and strip abandoned stations for parts until a run ends. The lineage the studio names is honest rather than decorative — Star Trek: Bridge Crew (since delisted), FTL: Faster Than Light, and Void Crew.

What Early Access is supposed to be

The Quest build is Early Access, not a finished campaign. UploadVR reports biweekly playtests with cross-play, and Singular Perception is still building Automa autonomous systems to fill empty crew seats plus alternate ship layouts for smaller groups. Those are described as in development, not as day-one features — so launch week still assumes three humans who show up.

That is the real bet. Bridge Crew proved a crew game can feel special when the lobby is full and fade when it is not. A roguelike run has a cleaner social contract: commit to one attempt, die in nine minutes, queue another. Ten dollars is aggressive for a three-player title, which is the point — crew games live or die on how many of your friends own a copy.

Where it sits on the September calendar

Quest’s September slate is already crowded. Knights of Fiona and Transformers: Beyond Reality Redux land on the 3rd, Detective VR expands to PS VR2 and Steam on the 9th, The Lightkeepers hits on the 10th, and Into the Radius 2 reaches PS VR2 on the 24th. Sol Protocol slots in on the 17th as the cheap co-op ask that needs the most from your friend list.
