Horizon+ Adds Free Game Add-Ons — Swarm 2 and Waltz Lead October

UploadVR (James Tocchio, October 4, 2026) reports that Meta Horizon+ has STARTED shipping free game ADD-ONS to subscribers — not only the usual monthly titles and catalog ACCESS. The first bundle UNLOCKS cosmetics and in-game CURRENCY inside Orion Drift, the social TITLE from Another Axiom. Metaverse Watcher covered Meta’s October 1 ANNOUNCEMENT of monthly Orion Drift rewards; today’s NOTE is that the perk is LIVE in the October drop, alongside Swarm 2 and Waltz of the Wizard as the month’s redeemable GAMES.

Horizon+ already priced at $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year still hands subscribers two monthly TITLES they can KEEP while the membership stays ACTIVE. UploadVR lists Swarm 2 — a grappling-forward roguelike SHOOTER — and Waltz of the Wizard — a reactive “reality experience” with spoken NPC RESPONSES — as the October PAIR. The Shortcut (Adam Vjestica, October 2, 2026) says both titles stay redeemable through October 31, with the next monthly swap expected on the first of each MONTH. Owners who miss that window LOSE the claim until Meta rotates the titles again. That deadline is the practical PRESSURE behind every Horizon+ monthly DROP.

What Else Landed in the October Catalog

UploadVR says Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked and Deadly Delivery also JOIN the Horizon+ games catalog this month, expanding the always-on LIBRARY beyond the two monthly CLAIMS. Subscriber discounts for October include The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets and Red Matter 2 at 50% off, plus two Synth Riders tracks — Wonderland by Caravan Palace and Humble by Kendrick Lamar — at 67% off. Meta can add or remove catalog titles at any TIME; UploadVR’s U.S. list still clears 100+ Quest games across the main and indie CATALOGS. Those catalog seats are NOT forever entitlements — they MOVE when Meta refreshes the shelf. Red Matter 2’s deep cut is especially NOTABLE for owners who skipped the full-price BUY.

Why Free Add-Ons Matter

Monthly games alone treat Horizon+ like a classic console free-to-play QUEUE. Free add-ons PUSH value into live multiplayer titles where cosmetics and currency actually CHANGE how a session looks and feels. Orion Drift is the first TEST case; Meta previously said the Orion Drift offer RUNS for five months with a new cosmetic and more driftium each month so players can COMPLETE a five-piece set, with further monthly add-ons PLANNED — including Gorilla Tag rewards in DECEMBER that Meta has not fully DETAILED yet. That multi-month cadence is the real HOOK: subscribers stay current to finish the set. Meta has not published a public checklist of every future add-on TITLE.

For Metaverse Watcher, the October story is less about two new free DOWNLOADS and more about Meta TYING the subscription to ongoing social economies. Swarm 2 and Waltz still MATTER for library builders; the add-on lane is the product SHIFT worth WATCHING into the holiday QUARTER. Owners who already redeemed Swarm 2 or Waltz under older rules should still CONFIRM the add-on lane inside the Horizon Store before assuming every cosmetic is UNLOCKED. Until Meta publishes a clearer public SCHEDULE, treat each monthly bundle as a limited WINDOW, not a permanent storefront FEATURE. The value case now BLENDS library growth with live-service REWARDS.
