CONVRGENCE leaves SteamVR Early Access TODAY. Solo developer Monkey-With-a-Bomb ships VERSION 1.0 on September 17, 2026—the date locked in the August VR Games Showcase trailer and still printed on the Steam storefront as the exit from Early Access.

The atmospheric EXTRACTION shooter has been in Early Access since April 22, 2024. Steam currently lists a VERY POSITIVE rating from more than 1,500 reviews. Players scavenge the procedurally generated Chernokamensk Anomaly Zone with a loyal DOG companion, hunting ARTIFACTS and fighting bandits before nightfall—and before whatever hunts after DARK.
What 1.0 actually ships
According to the developer roadmap covered by UploadVR, the 1.0 update REWORKS the main-mission path and finally adds a PROPER ENDING, plus story context and VOICE acting. The same plan calls for ADVANCED graphics options, DIFFICULTY settings, CLOUD saves, and a NEW tutorial—table stakes for a title that spent more than TWO YEARS iterating in public.

The backstory still matters. Monkey-With-a-Bomb’s earlier Metro-inspired Paradox of Hope was pulled from sale in 2023 amid COPYRIGHT concerns. CONVRGENCE is the rebuild that kept the extraction loop without that legal risk—and the community that stuck through Early Access now gets a FINISHED campaign spine instead of an open-ended BETA.
Price and platform
CONVRGENCE is a SteamVR title for PC VR. UploadVR notes the list price moved from $19.99 to $24.99 earlier this month ahead of the 1.0 cut. The Steam page still marks Early Access language until the update fully rolls; treat TODAY’s date as the developer’s published LEAVE window, not a guarantee every region’s client flips at the same minute.
September 17 was already a STACKED VR calendar—Sol Protocol’s Quest Early Access, CleanSheet Soccer 2 on Quest, and the scheduled SHUTDOWN of Sony’s online-only Firewall Ultra. CONVRGENCE’s 1.0 is the PC VR counterweight: a solo-dev shooter that FINISHES instead of disappearing. Whether the reworked ending lands as hard as the ZONE atmosphere is the question players can answer now that Early Access is no longer the alibi.
