Meta and ESPN Stream Live 180-Degree College Football on Quest Starting October 10, but There Is Still No Full Schedule

Meta and ESPN will stream select college football games LIVE in 180-degree video inside the Quest TV app, starting Saturday, October 10 with Texas vs. Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. That is the FIRST time Meta has put a WEEKLY LIVE college slate on Quest. The release is still MISSING the details fans need MOST: a full schedule, a PRICE, and any account requirement, Road to VR reported on October 9.

What Meta Actually Announced

Per Road to VR, the games stream in 8K with Dolby Atmos, using 180-degree views MEANT TO show the ENTIRE field. Full-game replays and highlights stay on demand, but only for SEVEN days after EACH GAME. Meta says immersive games will arrive EVERY week of the regular season, then Conference Championship Weekend and the College Football Playoff, through the January 2027 national championship.

Meta’s own Texas vs Oklahoma listing is ALREADY LIVE. It shows the game as an UPCOMING 180° NCAA Football event, rated 13+, with “immersive full-game replay and highlights on demand after the game.” RuntimeWire dates Meta’s announcement to October 8 and notes it moves ESPN on Quest from HIGHLIGHT clips, which ESPN offered in 2024, to SELECTED live games inside Meta’s TV app RATHER THAN Xtadium.

What Is Still Missing

Meta has NOT published the full schedule. Road to VR says PLAINLY that the company “hasn’t released the full schedule yet.” “Select” games is doing a LOT of work here: there is NO COUNT per week, NO LIST of conferences, and nothing in the cited coverage about price or whether viewers need an ESPN SUBSCRIPTION. Viewers outside the U.S. get no availability statement either.

That fits a PATTERN. When Meta PROMISEd “over 100 immersive live sports events” a year at Connect, VR.org found that ESPN was the ONLY partner with any detail attached. MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, and UFC got a count and a start window, and nothing else. This week’s announcement FILLS IN ONE of those blanks, and only for college football.

Why Now: The Glasses, Not the Quest

The timing points at HARDWARE. Meta VR Glasses go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299.99, and Meta’s sports pitch is built around them. Road to VR’s Scott Hayden calls this one of Meta’s LARGEST immersive content pushes and reads it as a way to make the glasses more attractive before launch. The college games run on Quest TODAY, so current owners are EFFECTIVELY the test audience.

Meta has done this BEFORE. Alongside the Quest 3S launch in 2024 it brought 52 immersive live NBA games to the platform, Road to VR notes. The open question is the same one RuntimeWire raises: whether fans come BACK for live games week after week, or try it ONCE because a 180-degree SIDELINE view is NEW.

The Watcher Take

A REAL KICKOFF date and a real game make this MORE CONCRETE than Meta’s 100-event headline. It is still NOT A SCHEDULE. Treat Saturday as a TRIAL run: check whether the 8K stream HOLDS UP, whether the 180-degree angle beats the TV broadcast for a full game, and whether Meta posts Week 7’s games BEFORE Week 7 arrives. Until a full slate, price, and region list appear, “every week” is a promise rather than a programming guide.
