FitXR is expanding past the headset. A redesigned iOS and Android companion app now includes a Mobile Workouts beta — personalized strength, cardio, mobility, and active-recovery video sessions members can finish without VR, according to UploadVR (September 1, 2026).

The mobile sessions plug into Your Journey, FitXR’s ongoing training-plan layer. Once enabled, the company says mobile workouts can appear from a member’s next Journey checkpoint. Members can also manually switch a scheduled Journey workout between VR and mobile — and back again — from the phone.
Headset still preferred. Phone now in the loop.
CEO and co-founder Sam Cole told UploadVR the company has historically under-invested in the mobile client relative to VR. “The headset is still the best place to work out we’ve ever built. What it can’t do is be in your pocket,” Cole said. “The phone is where people decide, plan, and adjust.”
That framing matches the redesign: Journey progress, upcoming workouts, and plan edits now live on the phone and sync back into VR, so members can adjust a session before they put a headset on. FitXR also rebuilt navigation, class details, plan management, and onboarding in the companion app.
Made-to-order sessions, not a class library match
FitXR describes Mobile Workouts as “made-to-order.” Instead of matching a member to a prerecorded class, each session is assembled on demand around goals, preferences, and readiness. The Atlas assistant builds the session; coaches Casey (“High energy, no BS”) and Dane (“Daily mood booster”) demonstrate the movements in short exercise videos.
Onboarding asks what equipment is available — dumbbells, resistance bands, loop bands, a chair, or bodyweight-only — and which coach to use. An Edit Workout menu can then change length, difficulty, style, and equipment, regenerating the session around those choices.
Smart Intensity and a measured beta
A new Smart Intensity prompt asks members to rate how hard a class felt after each session. At Journey checkpoints, those ratings feed recommendations to increase, hold, or ease intensity. The prompt can be disabled; FitXR says Journey then falls back to recent workout results.
VP of Product Rob Mayes said the company is shipping Mobile Workouts as a beta specifically to gather community feedback before expanding the feature. Existing members can opt in at no extra cost; some new users will see access through an A/B test. Membership remains $12.99/month or $107.99/year.
