FOX Streams Ohio State at Indiana to Galaxy XR, at Least the Ninth Live Event It Has Promoted for Its XR App This Year, Still With No Schedule

FOX put ONE of the BIGGEST college football GAMES of the season inside a HEADSET on Saturday. No. 4 Ohio State at No. 5 Indiana KICKED OFF at 12 p.m. ET on FOX, and the network’s college football account said the game would ALSO stream “in an immersive experience” on the FOX Sports XR app for Samsung’s Galaxy XR, and in Cosm’s DOME venues. That makes FOX the SECOND major U.S. sports broadcaster this month to BET on LIVE football in a headset, and it is doing it on Android XR rather than QUEST.

What FOX Actually Announced

The ANNOUNCEMENT was a SINGLE post. On Friday at 1:14 p.m. ET, @CFBONFOX wrote: “Ohio State-Indiana will also be available in an immersive experience at Cosm and on the FOX Sports XR App on Galaxy XR powered by Android XR.” By the time we read it on Saturday, the post had drawn more than 750 likes and roughly 30,800 views. It did NOT say which CAMERA format the game would use, how many ANGLES there would be, or at what RESOLUTION it would stream.

The app’s Google Play LISTING fills in SOME of that. FOX Sports Interactive says the app streams “the biggest games and events” live “in immersive formats including 180° and 360° video and multi-camera experiences,” with a player that lets viewers ROTATE the angle and ZOOM in and out. It also offers HIGHLIGHTS, REPLAYS and 360-degree behind-the-scenes clips. The CATCH is a footnote: live games come “With a TV subscription.” The listing does not say WHICH providers QUALIFY. It was last updated on July 15, 2026, and the change note reads only “Optimization and bug fixes.”

This Is Not a One-Off

FOX has been doing this ALL YEAR. A SEARCH of public posts from FOX’s sports accounts on X turned up AT LEAST NINE live events promoted for the Galaxy XR app in 2026. That is a FLOOR, not a FULL count. The list starts with the Daytona 500, which @NASCARONFOX promoted on February 13 for both the app and Cosm Dallas. It continues with the World Baseball Classic final on March 17 and the Indianapolis 500 in May, then a RUN of FOUR MLB games between July 18 and August 29, including Dodgers vs. Yankees and Red Sox vs. Yankees. @wsportsonfox added a No. 2 Texas vs. No. 1 Nebraska match on August 30. Saturday’s game is the FIRST COLLEGE FOOTBALL broadcast on that LIST.

It is NOT FOX’s first Ohio State game in a headset, either. A Google Android promo for the app pitched “the Michigan vs Ohio State game on Nov 29,” the date of the 2025 meeting, about a MONTH after Galaxy XR LAUNCHED.

The Cosm Half of the Deal

Cosm is the OTHER screen. Its Detroit listing showed the game at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, with doors at 11:00 a.m., DOME seats from $22 and general ADMISSION from $11. Cosm promises to put viewers “between the hash marks from Memorial Stadium” in what it calls Shared Reality. Cosm also published event pages for the SAME game at its Los Angeles and Dallas venues. FOX has paired the two before: the Daytona 500 post pointed fans to the app OR to Cosm Dallas. The pattern is CLEAR. FOX is TREATING the dome and the headset as TWO versions of the SAME premium seat, one SHARED and one PRIVATE.

How It Stacks Up Against Meta and ESPN

The timing is POINTED. One week earlier, Meta and ESPN started streaming live 180-degree college football in the Quest TV app, opening with Texas vs. Oklahoma on October 10. Per Road to VR, those streams RUN in 8K with Dolby Atmos, with replays kept for SEVEN days, and Meta PROMISES games EVERY week through the national championship. FOX has made NO WEEKLY promise. It has also published NO resolution or audio spec for its app, and its listing names 360-degree video and multi-camera views, which Meta’s announcement DID NOT.

The PLATFORM split MATTERS more. ESPN’s games run on Quest, the BIGGEST installed base in VR. FOX’s run on Galaxy XR, a $1,800-CLASS headset with a FAR smaller audience. A search of Apple’s U.S. App Store turned up NO app called FOX Sports XR. For now, the ONLY way to WATCH FOX’s immersive games at HOME is on Samsung’s headset.

What Is Still Missing

FOX has NOT published a schedule for the app. EVERY event we found was ANNOUNCED the day before, or the SAME day, in a SINGLE post. Viewers get NO advance list, NO word on whether MORE Big Ten games will FOLLOW, and NO list of qualifying TV providers. Google Play’s data-safety section says, in the developer’s own words, that the app collects and shares NO user data. It does NOT say how FOX VERIFIES the TV subscription it REQUIRES.

The TAKEAWAY: Android XR now has a BROADCASTER running a STEADY, cross-sport live slate, from NASCAR and IndyCar to MLB and now Big Ten football. That is EXACTLY the kind of CONTENT a YOUNG platform NEEDS. Turning it from a DAY-BEFORE post into something owners can PLAN around is FOX’s JOB now.
