Loony Laps, a solo-developed arcade toy racer, is headed to Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S in Q1 2027. UploadVR flagged the reveal today: die-cast cars, 29 handcrafted chaos tracks, and a dual VR / mixed-reality pitch. The Meta Horizon Store listing is already live for wishlists. Price is still TBA.

Per UploadVR, creator Paulo Cunha is building the game alone. The fantasy is tabletop die-cast racing at headset scale: customizable paint, wheels, and materials on cars that read like physical toys, not sim racers. Tracks lean into loops, jumps, magnetic objects, branching paths, mobile machinery, and other hazards designed for laughs rather than lap-time purity.
VR miniature worlds, MR on your table
In VR, races sit inside a dedicated miniature environment. In mixed reality, the same tracks drop into the player’s physical room. That split matches how Quest 3 owners actually use passthrough today—short sessions on a real desk or coffee table—while still offering a sealed VR stage when the room is cluttered or dark.
Launch modes are intentionally short and arcade-shaped. Championship unlocks cars and tracks through progression. Quick Race jumps straight into a chosen event. Time Trial is the personal-best lane. UploadVR describes the design as built for replayable bursts rather than multi-hour campaigns.
Why the timing matters
Q1 2027 puts Loony Laps after Meta Connect 2026 (September 23–24) and well after this autumn’s Quest software wave. Solo MR racers that look this polished in trailer form are still rare on Horizon Store; most tabletop MR demos never reach a dated Coming Soon page. A public wishlist URL this early is the real signal—not the trailer jokes.
The official store page at meta.com/experiences/loony-laps mirrors the pitch: wild tabletop tracks, drift-and-dodge hazards, championships, and VR or mixed reality. No price, no day inside Q1, no multiplayer claim in the coverage we checked. Wishlist now; calendar details later.
