Collov Labs Opens $199 NewEyes Sight Glasses Pre-Orders, but Lists No Camera Spec and No Ship Date

Collov Labs, the Silicon Valley startup behind the NewEyes AI app, turned its visual ASSISTANT into HARDWARE on October 12. The company’s store now lists THREE devices, all on PRE-ORDER: Sight AI glasses at $199, a CAMERA-equipped open-ear earphone called Halo at $149, and a collar-mounted AI PIN called Clip at $99. The pitch is AGGRESSIVE on price. The paperwork is THIN: Sight’s SPEC sheet names NO camera sensor, Clip’s KEY specs read “pending,” and NONE of the three pages gives a SHIP date.

What Collov announced

The launch came as an X thread from the company’s NewEyes account at noon ET, opening with a JAB at RIVALS: “Muse gave your agent a computer. Instinct gave it your phone number. We gave it eyes.” A follow-up post sums up the PRODUCT as “two pieces of hardware and one agent. Glasses with a camera. Open-ear earphones.” The store ADDS Clip as a THIRD form factor.

Here is what each product page ACTUALLY lists:

  • Sight ($199): an AB5656C chip, TOUCH control, a “Q10, PU + LCP composite diaphragm” speaker, TWO 90 mAh batteries, a magnetic charging cable, a copper-alloy frame in matte black ONLY, and interchangeable clear and sunglass-tint polycarbonate lenses. There is NO camera resolution, NO weight, and NO battery-life figure.
  • Halo ($149): an IMX219 camera, a 34.8 g WEIGHT, dual-mic noise reduction, left and right speakers, and touch control. Collov says it also TRANSLATES as you listen and handles CALLS and music.
  • Clip ($99): a front-facing camera and a clip-on mount. Weight, battery, and connection are ALL marked “Spec pending.”

Sight DOES have a camera, even if the spec sheet SKIPS it. The setup guide describes taking a photo from the app or a button on the frame, a Live Video mode that STREAMS to NewEyes, and a “Sync HD” step that briefly switches on the glasses’ Wi-Fi to pull FULL-quality photos off the device. Buyers are simply NOT told WHAT that camera is.

The pre-order terms

Every device page carries the SAME line: “Pre-order. We ship in batches and email you before yours ships. Full refund any time before it ships.” Shipping is US-ONLY, with a 30-day return window and a one-year limited warranty.

That sits AWKWARDLY with Collov’s OWN shipping policy, dated October 6, which says: “If a product is sold as a pre-order, the expected ship date is shown before you buy.” The product pages we REVIEWED show NO such date. The same policy says that when no time is stated, Collov will email a REVISED date if it CANNOT ship within 30 DAYS of the order, and the buyer may cancel for a FULL refund. In practice, that 30-day clock is the ONLY concrete timeline a buyer gets today.

The software came first

NewEyes is not new as SOFTWARE. Collov ANNOUNCED the app in a September 23 newswire release, describing a HYBRID setup that runs perception on the PHONE, an agent runtime locally, and heavier reasoning in the CLOUD. At that point it worked on phones and “compatible Ray-Ban Meta glasses.” The company’s Meta setup page still says ACCESS is by INVITATION, lists Meta Ray-Ban Display as “Not yet verified,” and shows a permission screen with “Allow unencrypted connections” marked “Required during early access.”

WATCH the user numbers. The September release says Collov’s portfolio, which includes NewEyes AI AND the older Collov AI, has more than 1 MILLION total users and more than 10,000 PAID subscribers. That figure is for the WHOLE company, not for NewEyes alone, and it says NOTHING about DEMAND for hardware. Collov also says it has raised a $23 MILLION Series A led by Brightway Future Capital.

Why it matters

At $199, Sight UNDERCUTS every Meta camera frame on Collov’s own compatibility list, where Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 APPEARS at $379. It also lands ONE day before Meta ships the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349. Cheap camera glasses are no longer RARE, so the REAL test is the AGENT: whether NewEyes can KEEP track of a task across what it sees, which is exactly the claim the launch thread LEANS on.

Until Collov publishes a camera spec for Sight, FINISHES Clip’s spec sheet, and posts the expected ship date its OWN policy promises, TREAT these as RESERVATIONS on a PROMISING app, not as finished PRODUCTS. The refund-before-shipping terms keep the risk LOW. The information gap is still WIDE.
