VMX locks a standalone Meta Quest release for October 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Break Free Interactive’s VR BMX / MTB / scooter park game is already live in Steam Early Access at $14.99 with a Very Positive review score.
UploadVR’s October calendar now lists VMX for October 2 on Quest. The Horizon Store listing matches that stamp — Coming Soon, Oct 2 at 10 AM PDT — and the studio’s own press kit says the Meta standalone build ships the same day. Wishlisting is open; Quest pricing is not on the storefront yet.
PC VR players are not waiting. Steam app 3554630 left Coming Soon on March 26, 2026 for Early Access at $14.99. Steam’s review summary currently reads Very Positive (209 positive / 25 negative of 234 reviews). Categories flag Single-player, Online Co-op, Online PvP, Tracked Controller Support, and VR Only.

Break Free Interactive is a two-person Delaware studio — Rick Wachowiak and Oskar Woinski — that spun VMX out of a 2022 BMX prototype after meeting in Pavlov VR esports map work. Steam’s store copy frames the loop plainly: ride BMX, mountain bikes, or scooters; throw gesture-based tricks; session parks with friends; run challenges; spray-paint your ride; unlock clothing with earned points. The Early Access FAQ on Steam says the pair chose that model because VR bike riding is still a novel control problem and they want community input over a one-to-two-year path to 1.0.
Quest coverage, per Alt Lab / store metadata and the press kit, targets Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. That is a wider SKU list than many 2026 Quest-only ships that drop Quest 2. Comfort is listed as intense on store trackers — expect a high-motion sports title, not a seated narrative.
Why the October date matters
October 2 puts VMX on Horizon roughly a week after Meta Connect and just ahead of a busy Quest game stretch that already includes Pedal Rebel VR on October 5 and Disembodied on October 15. For a two-person Early Access sports game, the standalone date is the real distribution beat: Steam proved the physics loop; Quest is where most of the headset install base sits.
