XREAL Puts xbx a01+ Glasses on Faces at Tokyo Gaming-PC Street 9, but Its Giveaway Prize Depends on Which Release You Read

XREAL is taking its YOUTH-focused sub-brand to the people most likely to buy it. The company is running a booth TODAY, Saturday, October 10, at TOKYO Gaming-PC STREET 9, a hands-on gadget event hosted by the ASCII editorial team at LIFORK AKIHABARA II in Tokyo’s Akihabara district. The star of the booth is the xbx a01+, the FIRST model from XREAL’s xbx line.

According to XREAL’s Japanese press release on PR TIMES and coverage from PANORA and ASCII.jp, doors run from 13:00 to 17:30 local time and admission is FREE. The venue is roughly a FIVE-minute walk from the Electric Town exit of JR Akihabara Station.

What the xbx a01+ actually is

XREAL launched xbx on July 6 as a brand aimed at YOUNGER buyers, and the a01+ is a tethered display, not a standalone computer. It needs a USB-C host that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. XREAL’s official spec sheet lists:

  • Dual-layer SeeYa MICRO OLED panels at 1920×1080 per eye (3840×1080 in 3D mode)
  • Up to 120Hz refresh and up to 1,600 nits of brightness
  • A 50-degree field of view, rendering a virtual screen equivalent to 147 INCHES at four meters
  • 62 grams with the detachable front frame, 56 grams without it
  • An IPD range of 54.5 to 74.5mm

The official Japanese online store PRICE is 43,980 yen including tax. That puts it in the same budget display-glasses bracket as the $299 tier we covered in SEPTEMBER, and it is NOT an Android XR device like XREAL’s upcoming Aura.

One detail the sources disagree on

Visitors who try the glasses can enter an in-event GIVEAWAY, but the published materials do not agree on the prize. The PR TIMES release and PANORA say XREAL is supplying the xbx a01+ itself. The ASCII.jp version of the same announcement names the XREAL 1S as the prize. Attendees should CHECK at the booth rather than assume which model is on offer.

Why it matters

Display glasses live or die on FIT, comfort, and image clarity, things a spec sheet cannot PROVE. Putting the a01+ on faces at a gaming-PC event, next to the monitors and handhelds it competes with for attention, is a sensible way to SELL a 147-inch-screen pitch to PC and console players. It is a MARKETING event, not a product announcement: no new hardware, price change, or overseas launch was disclosed.
