Samsung’s First Android XR Glasses Clear the FCC Ahead of a November Launch, With No Display and No Price

Samsung’s FIRST Android XR smart glasses have cleared the US Federal Communications Commission, the LAST major regulatory checkpoint before a device can go on sale. Two model numbers, SM-O200P and SM-O200J, surfaced in FCC filings during the first days of October, according to a DareDive News roundup that cites reporting from Road to VR and SammyGuru.

A Samsung official separately told the Korea Herald that the company’s first AI glasses will LAUNCH in NOVEMBER. Samsung has still given NO exact date and NO price.

What the filings describe

The first-generation hardware is deliberately MODEST. It carries NO display. A built-in CAMERA, microphones and a speaker let the wearer talk to Google’s GEMINI, ask it to identify what it sees, or hear a spoken answer. The heavier processing is OFFLOADED to a paired Galaxy phone rather than run on the frames, which keeps the glasses light and the battery small, at the cost of putting nothing in the wearer’s field of view.

Two model codes, two partners, one inference

Coverage has linked the two codes to two eyewear partners: Warby Parker, the mass-market US optical chain, and Gentle Monster, the South Korean fashion label. That mapping is INFERRED from the trailing letters in each filing; Samsung has NOT confirmed it. If it holds, Samsung is entering the category through two STYLE tiers and two RETAIL footprints at once, rather than a single house-brand frame.

Why it matters

A displayless, phone-tethered design puts Samsung squarely against Ray-Ban Meta rather than against display glasses like XREAL’s Aura. FCC clearance authorizes the RADIOS, not a retail plan, so the open questions remain the ones buyers care about: PRICE, launch MARKETS, and how much of Gemini works without a Galaxy phone. Until Samsung answers those, November is a WINDOW, not a spec sheet.
