Beat Saber Adds Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters as a $1.99 Shock Drop, and v1.45.3 Lifts the Editor’s Basic Light Event Cap From 120 to 10,000

Beat Games shipped its Halloween TRACK on schedule. “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr., the THEME from the 1984 film, went LIVE in Beat Saber’s Shock Drops on October 15, 2026, for $1.99 on Meta QUEST and PC VR, according to UploadVR. The studio’s Steam notes for update v1.45.3 were POSTED at 9:09 AM ET, and the official Beat Saber account on X CONFIRMED the drop minutes earlier.

The DATE was NOT a surprise. Beat Games teased the song on October 9 with a SINGLE line: “Ghostbusters on October 15.” What it did not say then is that the track ships with its OWN stage. The release notes add a “Ghastly” ENVIRONMENT alongside the song, which Beat Games calls the Academy Award-NOMINATED theme, and the announcement HINTS at something extra inside: “Keep an eye out while you play, you won’t be alone in there.” The Steam store page now carries a screenshot labeled “From Ghostbusters Shock Drop,” showing GHOST sprites and hazard-striped notes.

Fifth Shock Drop of the Year, Second in 16 Days

Ghostbusters is the FIFTH Shock Drop of 2026, after Bad Bunny’s “Me Porto Bonito” in February, Twenty One Pilots’ “Stressed Out” in March, Yungblud’s “Zombie” in June, and ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” on September 29, which we covered when it arrived in v1.45.2. That was only 16 DAYS ago, so the single-track CADENCE has clearly TIGHTENED heading into the holiday quarter. Each drop is a STANDALONE PURCHASE, NOT part of a larger music pack.

The Bigger Change Is in the Level Editor

For mappers, v1.45.3 matters MORE than the SONG. The editor gains Mirrored Paste (Ctrl+Shift+V), which pastes at the playhead and MIRRORS objects across the grid; a Bulk Change dialog for EDITING MANY events at once; and Light Gizmos that can now be DRAGGED to move and rotate environment objects. New SEEDING shortcuts fill empty lanes at the playhead, a Custom Event Box Setup dialog builds SEVERAL event boxes for a light group in ONE step, and a “Copy From” option CLONES any of the game’s color schemes.

The most CONSEQUENTIAL line is a LIMIT change: the cap on basic v1/v2 light events rises from 120 to 10,000, a jump of more than 80 TIMES, according to the full release notes. Beat Games also REDESIGNED the keybinds page with collapsible categories and SEARCH, and STOPPED text fields from triggering editor shortcuts.

Fixes, Including One for APT.

The patch also CORRECTS an Expert arc in “APT.” that passed THROUGH a wall at about 2:12, a car CLIPPING into a house in “NISSAN ALTIMA,” and visual BUGS across the Panic 2.0, Dragons 2.0, The Prodigy, Coldplay, Lady Gaga and Hip Hop Mixtape 2 environments. OLDER v2 maps with a dark intro now start DARK instead of DEFAULTING to blue lights.

What It Does Not Change

This is CONTENT and maintenance, not the OVERHAUL Meta has PROMISED. The larger update, with a new Flux gameplay mode, FULL hand tracking support and a progression system, remains SLATED for SPRING 2027 alongside the Meta VR Glasses, per UploadVR. Until then, Beat Games is FILLING the calendar one $1.99 TRACK at a time, and the editor work SUGGESTS it is also COURTING the community MAPPERS who keep the game’s catalog DEEP.
