Beat Saber is getting its BIGGEST UPDATE yet. At Meta Connect, Beat Games detailed a SPRING 2027 drop for Meta VR Glasses and Quest that adds FLUX — a brand-new game mode built around FULL HAND TRACKING — plus a refreshed campaign, a first-ever rewards system, and a UI overhaul. Controllers stay OPTIONAL, not required.

UploadVR’s Mike Johnson (Sep 23) calls Flux the HEADLINE. Players DROP the titular sabers and turn their HANDS into weapons. The Flux TETHER channels power between both hands to slice notes on the beat, while each hand can also punch separate targets to build JOLT energy. Squeeze both fists while slicing to TRIGGER Jolt and a SCORE BOOST.

Flux LAUNCHES with THIRTY-FIVE songs pulled from Beat Saber OSTs and Anniversary packs, including tracks from Lindsey Stirling, Teminite, Camellia, Boom Kitty, Jaroslav Beck, and Zakka G. More tracks are planned after launch. Hand tracking is the PRIMARY path, with Touch controller support for players who prefer sticks and triggers.
No Controllers Required
The update’s bigger shift is quiet but CONSEQUENTIAL: the entire game becomes playable with HAND TRACKING. That matters because Meta VR Glasses ship WITHOUT included Touch controllers and lean on eyes and hands as PRIMARY INPUT. A flagship rhythm title that still demanded controllers would have been a bad fit for the new form factor. Traditional saber play with Touch remains FULLY SUPPORTED.

Meta’s Beat Saber blog frames the spring drop as Beat Saber’s EVOLUTION into a MULTI-MODE rhythm platform on Meta VR Glasses and Meta Quest — not a one-mode patch.
Campaign, UI, and First Rewards
Beat Games is also rebuilding the single-player campaign with a LIGHT NARRATIVE thread, new barriers, and missions that unlock EXCLUSIVE rewards. The interface gets a cleaner first-time flow so new players can learn the ropes and reach LEADERBOARDS faster.

For the FIRST TIME, Beat Saber adds a REWARDS SYSTEM and inventory. Players can unlock cosmetic sabers and notes, then customize profiles with badges and banners. Cosmetics swap through a new inventory layer without leaving the hub flow.

Timing lines up with Meta VR Glasses’ SPRING 2027 WINDOW. Quest players get the same package. UploadVR’s coverage and Meta’s own post are the primary sources for the Flux FEATURE SET, song count, and controller-optional design. No price change was announced for the core game; Flux is framed as a PLATFORM UPDATE, not a paid spin-off.
For Metaverse Watcher readers tracking Meta’s controller-light push, Beat Saber’s move is a STRESS TEST for hand tracking under high-tempo play. If Flux feels precise on day one, it becomes a TEMPLATE for other rhythm and action titles aiming at glasses buyers who refuse a desk full of sticks.
