Less than three months after opening the Summer VR Games Showcase, Triangle Factory has paused Breachers: Outbreak. UploadVR reports the studio’s Discord note: interest did not support a project of that scale.
UploadVR reports today that Triangle Factory has put Breachers: Outbreak on hold. The four-player co-op zombie extraction shooter — VR and flatscreen cross-play, set in the Breachers universe — was the first major reveal of June’s VR Games Showcase. Our September 7 write-up covered the Cleaners pitch, Patient X, and the hybrid lobby bet. That window just closed.
“On hold,” with the quiet ending attached
Per UploadVR’s read of Triangle Factory’s Discord post, the studio framed the pause as an internal decision after “a lot of internal discussion.” The blunt line is commercial, not creative: building a high-quality VR title of this scale is hard right now, and the interest so far did not support continuing. The studio said it would rather be upfront than ship something it is not proud of, and that it wants the next effort to be something VR players will be “extremely excited about.”
The same note leaves a narrow door open. Some Outbreak work is expected to land inside the main Breachers game, with more detail when the studio is ready. UploadVR’s take is the useful one for readers: “on hold” and “on the shelf” are the industry’s soft synonyms for cancel. A standalone Outbreak you can buy later this year is not the working assumption anymore.
Second shelving in a hard year
UploadVR places Outbreak beside Triangle Factory’s other 2026 wind-down: long-running arena shooter Hyper Dash is scheduled to shut down in November. It also notes the wider pattern — Binary Mill’s Survive The Night was similarly shelved soon after reveal. For a studio that built its name on PvP (*Hyper Dash*, Breachers, Forefront), Outbreak was the clearest co-op and flatscreen bet on the board. Wishlist pages on Steam, Quest, and Pico are still up as of this writing; treat them as archive until Triangle Factory says otherwise.
