iWorlds’ psychedelic horror escape room leaves Quest Early Access and hits Steam (flat + SteamVR) on October 29 during Steam Scream V.
Games Press and Bloody Disgusting put a firm date on the calendar: Dark Trip ships October 29, 2026 on Steam and Meta Quest. The Steam page lists the same day. The window sits inside Valve’s Steam Scream V Halloween festival (October 26–November 2), which is the right shelf for a Lovecraft-tinged escape room that treats hallucinations as a puzzle tool, not a filter.
Hallucinations as the mechanic
The pitch is specific. You are an investigator hired to find a missing woman in a small German town. The trail leads into an abandoned laboratory of biomechanical machinery, occult devices, and experiment logs that should not exist. Clues do not always sit in ordinary sight. Some only appear after you deliberately alter perception. Creative director Andrey Klenin told Games Press the intent plainly: hallucinations are not decoration. The player has to decide when to trust reality and when to break it.
That loop — explore rooms, collect evidence, decipher mechanisms, switch perception — is what separates Dark Trip from jump-scare VR tourism. Steam frames it as a gothic horror escape room you can play flat or in VR. Tracked controllers and SteamVR support are listed alongside keyboard, mouse, and gamepad.
Quest leaves Early Access. Steam arrives dual-mode.
Dark Trip entered Quest Early Access in February 2025 and has been adding rooms, story, and localizations since. October 29 is the exit from that Early Access track on Meta Quest, per the studio’s Games Press release. On Steam it is a day-one full release with both desktop and SteamVR paths — one product, two ways into the same nightmare. Closed Steam playtests were already running over the summer.
Wishlist and storefronts are live: Steam, Meta Quest, and the studio site at iworlds.studio/dark-trip. Price is still unlisted on Steam as of this writing. October 29 is 52 days out — close enough that horror calendars and Steam Scream browsers will notice, far enough that the Quest build still has one more Early Access stretch to finish.
