Scared by Squares Locks September 24 on Steam. Horror Made of Cubes.

Scared by Squares locks September 24, 2026 on Steam. Siege Industries and Clique Games are shipping a liminal horror experiment built from one shape: the cube. UploadVR lists the same date in its September VR calendar, with a Quest presence already live via a free demo.

The pitch is deliberately narrow. The Steam store page asks whether you can make fear without ghosts, zombies, or creepypasta props — “What if all you had was the least scary thing in the world: a simple cube?” Solo developer CJ’s site frames the same bet: tension from space, sound, and the next corner, not a jump-scare catalog.

What ships on day one

You enter the Cube, a failing digital prison meant to contain a shape-shifting entity called the Shaper. Perfect geometry is breaking. Curves show up where squares should be. Voices sit in the walls. A calm narrator walks you through a job that does not stay clean.

Steam’s listing says the full game runs in both flatscreen and VR. Supported headsets on the requirements block include Oculus Rift, Meta Quest via Link, Valve Index, and HTC Vive, with standing and room-scale called out. A free demo covering Floor 1 is already available in standard mode. Metacritic and UploadVR also place a Quest demo / Quest listing in the mix; the Steam date is the hard calendar fact for PC.

Where it sits on the September board

September 24 is already crowded. UploadVR’s month list puts Into the Radius 2 on PlayStation VR2 the same day. Scared by Squares is the quieter counterweight: anomaly hunting, platforming rooms that shift while you move, and a design brief that refuses traditional monsters.

Price is still blank on Steam. Wishlist and the Floor 1 demo are the public levers until the 24th. The store page also flags future floors, anomalies, and multiplayer as the Cube expands after launch — promises, not day-one features.
