SUPERHYPERCUBE is live on PlayStation VR2 as a rebuilt PS5 edition from Kokoromi and Polytron (the FEZ publisher). The neon spatial arcade that launched with the first PlayStation VR in 2016 is back with sharper visuals, full head and hand haptics, DualSense or Sense controller support, and an expanded trophy set — ten years on from the PSVR debut.

The PlayStation Store listing stamps the PS VR2 Edition release at August 27, 2026. Store copy frames the loop the same way the original did: rotate and grow a cluster of cubes, scrape it through an ever-faster gauntlet of shaped walls, chase the next score. DualSense and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers are both supported. Headset vibration and Sense controller haptics are listed as optional but present. Early owner ratings on the U.S. concept page sat at 4.15 / 5 from 402 ratings when we pulled the storefront — treat that as a live sample, not a critic aggregate.

What changed for PS VR2
Polytron’s store pitch is blunt about the rebuild: sharper neon geometry pushed further into the tunnel, full head and hand vibration on passes and collisions, and an expanded trophy set beyond the leaderboard chase. The core design is unchanged — and that is the point. Game Critix’s August 29 review (4.5 / 5) argues the VR2 pass makes the same one-mechanic arcade “sharper, more immersive and more physical” without stuffing in campaign modes the original never needed. Power-ups still slow the clock or smash a wall; the score chase still resets on a bad rotate.
Platform history matters for anyone who already owns Quill-era nostalgia on the wrong stack. The original SUPERHYPERCUBE shipped as a PlayStation VR launch-adjacent classic on October 13, 2016, then reached Steam/Vive in 2017. This listing is a PS5 / PlayStation VR2 edition, not a cross-buy promise for Quest or Steam Frame. If you want the remaster’s haptics and trophy sheet, the door is Sony’s storefront.
Why it lands now
September’s VR calendar is packed with Early Access exits, open betas, and hardware countdowns. SUPERHYPERCUBE is the opposite beat: a finished, short-session spatial arcade that already has ratings on the shelf. It does not compete with Sol Protocol or EXOSHOCK for co-op nights. It competes for the ten-minute gap between other launches — the same niche the 2016 build owned when PSVR needed a game you could explain in one sentence.
