System Shock VR is an official VR adaptation of Nightdive’s 2023 remake, announced by Flat2VR Studios at the August 13, 2026 VR Games Showcase. Platforms: Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and SteamVR. Wishlist is live. Price and ship date are not.

Per UploadVR and VR.org, Flat2VR is developing the port with Nightdive. Impact Inked and Atari publish. The same showcase also revealed Flat2VR’s High on Life VR port and a StartEngine funding push — System Shock closed the main show.
What is on the record
The Steam page (app 5036490) lists the product as VR Only, single-player, with tracked controller support and Steam Achievements. Supported PC VR hardware named in the store notes: Meta Quest 2 / 3 / 3S (Air Link or USB), Valve Index with Knuckles, Pimax, and Pico. Vive controllers are not supported. Console path is PlayStation VR2. Release date field: “To be announced.”
TechTimes’ August 14 write-up stresses the practical difference versus community mods: the official build has source access and platform certification, so it can target standalone Quest rather than PC injection alone. That is the load-bearing claim for anyone who only ever saw a UEVR-style desktop hack.

Why the studio name matters
Flat2VR started as a modding scene that forced flatscreen games into headsets without licenses. A System Shock VR mod came out of that community. The August reveal flips the arc: the same name now ships an authorized version with the remake’s developer attached. VR.org frames that as unusual. Most mod scenes end in a C&D or a dead Discord; this one got franchise keys.
Temper the enthusiasm. Nightdive previously had a Meta-funded System Shock 2 VR project that stalled when Reality Labs pulled funding. Today’s trailer is an announcement trailer — no date, no price, no full-level play footage in the coverage. Wishlist now; calendar later.

What the remake is asking VR to do
Steam’s description keeps the remake’s loop: wake on Citadel Station after removing SHODAN’s ethical limits, then reclaim decks through exploration, emails, hardware installs, camera destruction, circuitry puzzles, and cyberspace breaches. Immersive-sim habits — reading a code off a corpse, leaning around a corner, digging a cabinet the UI never labeled — are the ones VR usually improves. Whether Flat2VR can keep that density on Quest standalone is the open engineering question.
Wishlist: Steam, plus the Quest and PlayStation Store listings linked from UploadVR’s announcement. No day on the calendar until someone posts one.
