XGIMI Opens China Presale for MemoMind One at CNY 2,699: No Camera, but Its Meeting Memory Switches On by Itself

XGIMI, the Chinese projector maker, has put its MemoMind One AI display glasses on PRESALE at HOME. The glasses went up on October 15 at a retail price of CNY 2,999, with a limited-time CNY 300 subsidy that brings the LAUNCH price to CNY 2,699, according to ITHome’s launch report and a China Securities Journal report based on information from the company. The pitch is a pair of glasses with NO camera. The catch is that the headline feature is a MEMORY system that is designed to LISTEN ALL DAY and, by XGIMI’s own description, START taking meeting notes WITHOUT being switched on.

What XGIMI is actually selling

Per ITHome’s rundown of the presale specifications, MemoMind One is a BINOCULAR display glasses product with these HEADLINE claims:

  • Display: dual-eye display for text, NAVIGATION prompts that work with Baidu Maps and Amap, a TELEPROMPTER mode, and Bluetooth lyric display.
  • Translation: real-time translation across 53 LANGUAGES.
  • Audio: TWO open speakers in the temples, tuned with HARMAN (the China Securities Journal names the Harman AudioEFX audio package), plus call noise reduction and an anti-leak PRIVACY mode.
  • Weight: between 46.6 g and 48.5 g depending on the FRAME. THREE frame shapes exist (square, round and mid-size), but ITHome says JD.com currently lists ONLY the square and round versions.
  • Battery: 16 HOURS of combined use, 12 HOURS in private mode, 30 HOURS in Memo mode, and 80% charge in 30 MINUTES.
  • Connectivity: iOS, Android and HarmonyOS, Bluetooth 6.0, and an MFi chip for Apple devices.
  • Lenses: the China Securities Journal says XGIMI worked with ZEISS on what it describes as Zeiss’s first lens made SPECIFICALLY for AI display glasses.

All of these are MANUFACTURER claims. Neither report includes INDEPENDENT testing, and Metaverse Watcher has NOT tested the glasses.

Camera-free does not mean capture-free

XGIMI frames the MISSING camera as a privacy choice made in HARDWARE, and that is a fair point as far as it GOES. The China Securities Journal report calls the camera-free design “rare” and says it reduces the SOCIAL concern a lens can cause. That is the SAME lane Even Realities has been selling into with its G-series glasses.

But the product is built around AUDIO capture. ITHome lists an “all-day AI memory” that AUTOMATICALLY captures “moments worth remembering”. It says the glasses ORGANIZE meeting conversations, pull out conclusions and action items in multi-person meetings, sort out client needs in business talks, and structure lecture notes. The same report says the glasses support all-day PROACTIVE meeting minutes that “automatically recognize meetings, with no need to start manually”, along with CALL memory, automatic daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports, and a personal PROFILE built from the user’s daily preferences.

XGIMI does list CONTROLS. These include VOICEPRINT enrollment for the wearer, sensitive-content filtering, and the ability to set time windows when memory is PAUSED. The company also cites certification to EN 18031, the EU cybersecurity standard for connected radio equipment. That standard covers how well the DEVICE protects data. It does NOT answer whether the colleague across the table KNOWS they are being transcribed. NEITHER report describes an outward-facing RECORDING indicator. On that question, the product materials are SILENT.

The Kickstarter that did not ship, and the lawsuit

This presale comes after a ROUGH international debut. As we reported in September, Shenzhen Yiwen Tech, the parent company of Even Realities, FILED a DESIGN-patent complaint against XGIMI-linked companies and Kickstarter in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on August 24 (case 1:26-cv-05220). MemoMind One’s Kickstarter campaign, which according to VR陀螺’s reading of the complaint had passed $1.27 MILLION from more than 2,670 backers, was SUSPENDED, and suspended Kickstarter pledges are not charged. Even later DROPPED Kickstarter from the case. The design claims against the XGIMI defendants were still OPEN when we reported, and nothing in this week’s Chinese launch coverage says otherwise.

The China launch therefore matters for a SIMPLE reason. It is the FIRST time MemoMind One has been offered for ORDINARY retail sale since that campaign was halted. The U.S. design patents in the complaint do NOT reach a sale on JD.com. NEITHER report gives any word on PRICING or timing OUTSIDE China.

A developer angle, too

On October 14, the official MemoMind account said it had opened recruitment for an invitation-only CLOSED BETA of its App Workspace. In that beta, invited developers can install and run their OWN apps in the MemoMind app and on the glasses:

https://x.com/MemoMindLabs/status/2110199679287767281

That matters more than any single SPEC. A memory-first device LIVES or DIES on what it can DO with what it remembers, and THIRD-PARTY apps are how that list grows. The tweet does not say how MANY developers will be admitted or when the beta becomes public.

The Metaverse Watcher read

MemoMind One joins a CROWDED China field this month. Alibaba’s Qwen N1 glasses launched on October 13, and Rokid has a display-equipped follow-up scheduled for October 27. At CNY 2,699, XGIMI is PRICING a binocular display, Harman audio and a Zeiss lens partnership into a frame that weighs UNDER 50 g. The specification sheet is COMPETITIVE.

The harder question is the one the spec sheet SKIPS. “No camera” answers the privacy question people were asking TWO YEARS ago. “Always listening, auto-detects meetings” raises a NEWER one. Buyers should look for THREE things before trusting the 30-hour Memo mode: where transcripts are STORED, who can DELETE them, and how a NON-WEARER can tell that recording is on. XGIMI’s presale materials do NOT yet answer ANY of the three.
