Lawaken’s X-AI Memory Glasses Hit Presale at CNY 699 With MCP Links to Claude and Codex, but the CNY 499 Floor Promised at WAIC Is Not on the Price List

Chinese AI wearables brand Lawaken (李未可, Li Weike) has put its X-AI “memory glasses” on PRESALE at home, and the pitch is not what you SEE but what the glasses REMEMBER. According to ITHome and Qudong, both reporting on October 18, the frames START at CNY 699, RECORD up to 12 HOURS of audio, pull out to-dos and DECISIONS automatically, and connect to outside AI agents, including Anthropic’s CLAUDE and OpenAI’s CODEX, over the STANDARD Model Context Protocol (MCP).

It is the THIRD memory-first wearable to surface in a single week, after XGIMI’s MemoMind One and Amazon’s Bee Frontier. Of the TWO that actually COME as glasses, it is the CHEAPER one. But the price list does NOT match what Lawaken PROMISED when it unveiled the product in July, and SEVERAL launch claims have quietly CHANGED on the way to the checkout page.

What is on sale

ITHome lists SIX frame options. A gunmetal round wire frame costs CNY 699. A dark gray acetate round frame, a gradient gray acetate square frame and a bright silver aviator each cost CNY 899. Two TITANIUM browline frames, in gray-silver and black-gold, cost CNY 1,099. The body weighs 26 grams WITHOUT lenses or the camera module, and the frames use a QUICK-RELEASE design so owners can SWAP styles.

The software does the HEAVY lifting. Per both reports, the glasses capture meetings, stray ideas, client visits and WeChat or phone calls, then EXTRACT action items, KEY conclusions and PRIORITIES. Owners can ask questions by VOICE to retrieve the full record. Tencent Cloud’s WorkBuddy agent turns that personal memory store into proposals, meeting MINUTES and drafts. Memory is managed in LAYERS that users can edit, delete or export, and the data is protected with AES-256 encryption IN THE CLOUD, which means it is stored off the device.

The MCP link is the GENUINELY new part. Lawaken says the glasses connect to ByteDance’s Doubao, ByteDance’s Feishu, Alibaba’s Qwen Office, Codex and Claude, so the same MEMORY can be called from DIFFERENT agent platforms. NEITHER report explains how that access is AUTHORIZED, which data each agent can READ, or whether Western services such as Claude and Codex are reachable for buyers inside China without extra setup.

Language support is BROAD on paper: real-time TRANSLATION across 128 languages, plus transcription in 25 languages and 21 Chinese DIALECTS. A FULL charge takes about 60 MINUTES.

The camera is an accessory, not a feature

Like XGIMI and Amazon, Lawaken LEADS with AUDIO. The optional camera module weighs 10 grams, attaches MAGNETICALLY and shoots 12-megapixel first-person photos, so voice, text and images can be logged TOGETHER. Lawaken’s promotional art says plainly that the module is an OPTIONAL accessory that must be bought SEPARATELY. In July, the company framed that modular design as a PRIVACY boundary for meetings and other sensitive settings. The ITHome listing gives NO PRICE for the module.

What changed since WAIC

Lawaken and Tencent Cloud announced the product on July 17 at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, billing it as the FIRST pair of glasses connected to WorkBuddy, according to China National Radio’s website. A launch article on Jiemian, marked on the page as PROMOTIONAL content, called it the world’s FIRST AI memory glasses and laid out the original offer. Set SIDE BY SIDE with Sunday’s listing, the DIFFERENCES are hard to miss.

  • Price. In July, a CNY 1 reservation came with a CNY 300 credit and a lowest price “from CNY 499.” The October FLOOR is CNY 699. Neither October report says whether the reservation CREDIT still applies or whether CNY 699 already includes it.
  • Battery. July promised MORE than 10 hours of continuous recording and 30 days of standby. October lists up to 12 HOURS of recording and NO standby figure. Lawaken’s fine print says the 12-hour number is LAB data at full charge and real use may vary.
  • Frames. July cited NINE quick-swap frames. The presale list has SIX.
  • Microphones. July described a “multi-microphone ARRAY.” The spec sheet now lists TWO mics.
  • Camera. July cited 1440p VIDEO from the module. The October reports mention only a 12-megapixel first-person CAMERA and say NOTHING about video.

The hardware underneath

Lawaken’s spec sheet, published with the ITHome report, fills in the REST. The glasses use TWO 135 mAh batteries, Bluetooth 6.0 with classic and Low Energy modes, two open-ear SPEAKERS, two microphones, touch controls on BOTH temples, and a magnetic charging connector with a Type-C adapter rated at 5V and 160 mA. They are rated IP5X for DUST and IPX4 for splashes, recommended for use between 0 and 40 °C, and SUPPORT prescription lenses.

The recording question

The July launch copy SAID the glasses can RECOGNIZE key scenes and AUTOMATICALLY start and stop recording everyday conversations and business meetings, with a VISIBLE recording indicator and one-tap clear and export. That is the SAME design choice Metaverse Watcher FLAGGED in XGIMI’s MemoMind One: a device that decides on its OWN when the people around you are being recorded. The October reports do NOT describe how the indicator works, whether automatic recording is on by DEFAULT, or how LONG cloud copies are KEPT.

Early reaction on X fixed on the INTEGRATION rather than the frames. One post called the interface “the real point,” noting that memory banked by the glasses is SHARED across agents:

The Metaverse Watcher take

At CNY 699, Lawaken is UNDERCUTTING XGIMI’s CNY 2,699 MemoMind One by a WIDE margin, and its MCP hookup is a SMARTER bet than locking memory into ONE assistant. But every number here is a MANUFACTURER claim, NOBODY has published independent TESTING, and Metaverse Watcher has NOT tried the glasses. The questions that matter are the ones the listing SKIPS: what the camera module COSTS, whether July’s reservation holders get the CNY 499 deal they were PROMISED, and EXACTLY who can read an all-day audio log once it LEAVES the frames. Until Lawaken answers those, treat the X-AI as a CHEAP, ambitious recorder with an unfinished privacy STORY.
