Mixed News reports that Xreal has a U.S. FCC GRANT for a Bluetooth keyboard it has NOT announced. The authorization for FCC ID 2BBNY-X7012 was issued on September 29, 2026 by MiCOM Labs, the grant record describes the device as “XREAL Keyboard,” and TWO filed documents carry Aura in their titles: a quick-start guide named AURA_QSG and an “AURA KEYBOARD” safety and warranty card.

A GRANT is permission to market a radio that meets FCC rules — not a ship date, not a price, and not a promise the accessory will bundle with XREAL Aura. Aura remains listed for AUTUMN 2026 at no more than $1,500 before tax in the U.S., with a refundable $199 priority deposit still open on Xreal’s site. The Aura product page lists keyboards among generic supported Bluetooth accessories and does NOT name a first-party keyboard SKU.
What the radio record actually says
According to the public grant details, the equipment class is DTS under Part 15C. Frequency range is 2402–2480 MHz — the Bluetooth band — with a maximum conducted output of 0.001W. Application date and final action date are BOTH September 29. Testing was performed by Shenzhen Tongzhou Testing, and the responsible party is listed at Xreal’s Sunnyvale address. Schematics and the operational description stay under long-term confidentiality; the EXTERNAL photographs do NOT.

Lab photos show a tri-fold QWERTY
Mixed News notes the public external photos show a silver metal slab with XREAL on the lid, hinged in two places, that opens into a full QWERTY keyboard: function row with media, brightness and volume keys, a Fn key, a four-square launcher key, arrow keys, and a USB-C port on one edge. Against the lab rulers the open board looks roughly 30 cm wide — a reading from the photograph, not a published OEM measurement.

Folding keyboards are a FAMILIAR answer for glasses that run Android apps: hand tracking and VOICE are slow for longer text entry. Xreal has shipped accessories for its glasses before, so a first-party keyboard would not be out of character — but none of that product plan appears in the filing itself.
What the record does NOT prove
The grant never states that the keyboard ships with Aura, that it sells separately, or that it exists in any public product roadmap. The single thread tying the two together is how Xreal named the files it submitted. A granted device can still be CANCELLED, delayed, or quietly folded into something else. Mixed News also notes this is the second XR filing to surface in a week after Samsung Intelligent Eyewear cleared the FCC on September 27 with sealed exhibit photos.
