Bad Inmate locks a date: October 15, 2026 on Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2. HyperVR Games — the Riga studio behind Shave & Stuff and Titans Clinic — is shipping its physics-driven prison-escape sandbox to both headsets the same day. SteamVR follows later with no calendar yet.
Per the Games Press announcement and UploadVR, the pitch is simple: you are behind bars, a mysterious ally in the wall offers help, and every escape plan is a gamble. Everyday objects become tools. Dig with a spoon, steal a key, crawl through an unsealed passage, or turn a food tray into a distraction. Ragdoll combat, inmate agendas, and yard sports (basketball, pull-ups, weights) sit alongside the breakout loop.
Why the dual-platform day matters
Quest-first, PS VR2-later is still the default for mid-size VR indies. HyperVR is skipping that stagger. UploadVR notes the studio’s prior sandbox hits already carry heavy Meta Store ratings — Titans Clinic at 4.8 from more than 16,000 reviews, Shave & Stuff at 4.8 from more than 14,000 — which is the commercial cushion that makes a same-day Sony build less reckless than it looks on paper.
The Meta Quest Store listing puts launch at Oct 15, 10 AM PDT. The PlayStation Store concept page is live for wishlists. Steam lists the title as coming soon for Steam Frame and other SteamVR hardware, still without a price or day.
What is on the record
This is not a stealth reveal. The press kit landed August 31. Wishlist pages are up. Features on the store pages match the Games Press bullet list: object crafting, inmate social systems, and VR-native yard activities. What is still missing is pricing on every storefront and the SteamVR ship window.
October sits after Meta Connect (September 23–24) and inside a fall calendar already stacking ports and tentpoles. A comedy prison sandbox will not redefine the medium. A small studio committing to Quest and PS VR2 on the same morning is still a useful data point — and a wishlist that costs nothing to file.
