Meta Horizon+ Adds Monthly Orion Drift Rewards for Subscribers

Meta Horizon+ is no longer ONLY a rotating game library. On October 1, 2026, Meta announced MONTHLY ADD-ONS that put in-game benefits INSIDE live titles — starting with Orion Drift, the social VR station from Another Axiom, the studio behind Gorilla Tag. Coverage from Runtime Wire tracks Meta’s own Quest Blog LINE for LINE.

Subscribers can REDEEM a free October bundle: ONE cosmetic item PLUS 1,000 driftium. Meta says the Orion Drift offer RUNS for FIVE months, with a NEW cosmetic and MORE driftium each month so players can BUILD a COMPLETE five-piece set. Further monthly add-ons are PLANNED, including rewards for Gorilla Tag in DECEMBER — though Meta has NOT detailed those later bundles yet.

Why Monthly Add-Ons Matter

Horizon+ already mixes monthly games with a downloadable CATALOG. Meta lists the service at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year and says it includes access to MORE than 100 titles. The new add-ons give subscribers a RECURRING reason to OPEN a free-to-play SOCIAL game, not just claim another DOWNLOAD. That is a SHIFT from library access toward LIVE-GAME engagement.

Meta says Orion Drift can HOST up to 75 other players in its SPACE station, with activities such as Driftball and Scraprun. Another Axiom frames its games as SOCIAL spaces where friends meet in an alternate UNIVERSE — a pitch that fits a subscription perk tied to REPEAT visits rather than a one-time unlock.

October Games Alongside the Rewards

The SAME announcement adds Waltz of the Wizard and SWARM 2 as October MONTHLY games, and puts Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked and Deadly Delivery into the CATALOG. Meta also lists a STARTER edition of Xbox Game Pass — MORE than 50 games — as part of the subscription. Those pieces sit BESIDE the Orion Drift add-ons; they are NOT replacements for them.

Developer COMPENSATION for the new monthly add-ons is the open QUESTION. Meta’s existing Horizon+ docs describe one-time payments for monthly-games participation and performance-based shares for catalog titles. The October post does NOT say how Orion Drift’s cosmetic-and-currency bundles are paid. Runtime Wire notes the same gap. Treat that as UNRESOLVED until Meta publishes terms.

Redeem During the Calendar Month

Horizon+ terms REQUIRE subscribers to redeem eligible monthly titles during the APPLICABLE calendar month; unredeemed monthly entitlements EXPIRE at month-end. Meta’s Orion Drift write-up tells players to CLAIM the October bundle while it is LIVE. Do NOT assume leftover cosmetics ROLL over without an explicit statement from Meta.

For Meta, the move gives Horizon+ a HOOK beyond downloads. For Another Axiom, it puts Orion Drift INSIDE a paid subscription’s monthly benefit while the studio builds a SECOND social world beyond Gorilla Tag. Whether the FIVE-month cadence keeps subscribers LOGGING in will depend on the cosmetics Meta ships next — and on whether December’s Gorilla Tag rewards MATCH the hype.
