Arken Age Adds Steam Frame PC Streaming as VitruviusVR Weighs a Standalone Port Against Its Next VR Game

VitruviusVR has PUSHED Arken Age version 1.008.000 to Steam, and the patch does TWO things at once. It adds Steam Frame PC STREAMING support, and it puts on record that the studio has NOT yet decided whether a STANDALONE Steam Frame port is worth PULLING staff away from its NEXT VR game.

What the October 1 patch actually adds

According to the studio’s Steam announcement, posted on October 1, the update ADDS Steam Frame PC streaming for BOTH the OpenXR and SteamVR launch options. This is the Frame running the game off a DESKTOP over a WIRELESS link. It is NOT the headset running Arken Age on its OWN chip.

The studio says it used the EXTRA buttons on the Steam Frame controllers to REWORK the layout. Both quick deploys now sit on the non-movement controller, so players can deploy SHIELDS and GRENADES while MOVING. Before the patch, only SYRINGES worked that way. The controller BUMPERS now EJECT batteries from weapons.

  • Physical crouching: VitruviusVR says the DELAYED crouch some players have felt since launch came from PHYSICS joint compression dampening in the in-game body. It added VELOCITY targets so body height follows the HMD more CLOSELY, while jumps and falls stay UNCHANGED.
  • Stick crouching: now FASTER.
  • Map: enemies are now TRACKED in areas where killing them is required to progress.
  • Combat: the Brute’s melee weapon has IMPROVED hit detection, which the studio says makes blocking it more RELIABLE.
  • Tutorial: CLEARER hints for weapon mod crafting and vending machine purchases.

The Standalone Question Is Still Open

“Currently we are deciding whether to dedicate our resources to a Steam Frame Standalone port or to continue having 100% focus on building our next VR title.”

VitruviusVR, Steam announcement, October 1, 2026

That SENTENCE is the REAL news for FRAME owners. There is NO announced port, NO TIMELINE for the decision, and the next title has no public NAME or DATE. The studio closes only by saying it is “excited to share more” about that next game SOON. As MIXED notes, this is also the team’s FIRST Steam announcement since its November 26, 2025 post celebrating a Game Awards nomination for best VR game.

Why it matters

Arken Age is a physics-driven, SINGLE-PLAYER action adventure that launched on Steam on JANUARY 16, 2025, and it is listed as VR ONLY. For a small studio, a native Frame build is a SEPARATE engineering project: new PERFORMANCE targets, a DIFFERENT chip, and ONGOING support. PC streaming, by contrast, keeps the game on HARDWARE the team ALREADY targets. VitruviusVR is effectively saying out loud the TRADE-OFF many PC VR studios now face with Valve’s headset, and it has chosen the CHEAPER path first.

On October 5, the US Steam store page listed Arken Age at $17.99, DOWN 55% from $39.99. MIXED reports that the Steam Autumn Sale ENDS October 8 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific.
