CONVRGENCE Leaves Early Access September 17. The Story Finally Ends.

CONVRGENCE leaves SteamVR Early Access on September 17, 2026. Solo developer Monkey-With-a-Bomb is shipping version 1.0 with a reworked main-mission path that finally includes a proper ending, plus story context and voice acting. The date landed in the August 2026 VR Games Showcase trailer and is now locked on the Steam storefront.

Per UploadVR, CONVRGENCE is a post-apocalyptic VR extraction FPS set in the procedurally generated Chernokamensk Anomaly Zone. You scavenge loot, hunt mystical artifacts, and extract before nightfall, with a loyal dog companion in the loop. UploadVR frames it as STALKER-adjacent with horror beats in the same neighborhood as Into the Radius — atmospheric zone survival rather than a flat arena shooter.

Road to VR listed the same September 17 full-release beat in its August 2026 VR Games Showcase roundup: PCVR on Steam, story finally arriving, Early Access ending.

What 1.0 is supposed to deliver

UploadVR’s readout of the developer roadmap is concrete. The 1.0 pass reworks the main missions and adds a proper ending, with story context and voice acting layered onto that structure. The same update is expected to bring advanced graphics and difficulty settings, cloud saves, and a new tutorial. Further post-1.0 work is still outlined in the developer’s Steam posts; 1.0 is the exit from Early Access, not a claim that the zone stops changing.

Two years of Early Access, then a price step

CONVRGENCE entered Early Access in April 2024 and has taken a steady diet of content updates — enemies, missions, guns, systems — for more than two years. UploadVR reported a ‘Very Positive’ Steam rating from about 1,514 reviews at the time of its August piece, and a price move from $19.99 to $24.99 earlier that month. The Steam page now lists the game at $24.99 and marks Leaving Early Access as September 17, 2026.

The path here was not clean. UploadVR notes that Monkey-With-a-Bomb previously shipped Paradox of Hope in 2022 with a heavier Metro lean; after copyright accusations, the developer halted that title and pulled it from sale in 2023, then rebuilt the work into CONVRGENCE with a clearer distance from Metro. That backstory is why the September date reads less like a marketing beat and more like the end of a long rebuild.

Where it sits on the September VR calendar

September 17 is already crowded on PC VR and Quest. UploadVR’s September 2026 release list puts CONVRGENCE 1.0 on the 17th alongside CleanSheet Soccer 2’s Quest debut and Sol Protocol’s Quest Early Access open. A week later, Into the Radius 2 reaches PlayStation VR2 on September 24 — useful calendar context for zone-survival fans, but a different platform and a different studio. This post is about CONVRGENCE’s SteamVR exit from Early Access, not the ITR2 port.
