The Herbalist is still live — and the clock is short. IO Interactive’s free Elusive Target starring Snoop Dogg as Dr. Cyrus Cane runs through September 26, 2026. That leaves roughly two weeks for Agent 47 players on PC VR and PlayStation VR2 to take the single-attempt contract before it rotates out.
IO Interactive announced the mission on August 25, with the free window opening August 27 after Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live at Gamescom. UploadVR flagged the VR angle the same week: World of Assassination already ships on SteamVR and PlayStation VR2, so the Elusive Target is not a flatscreen-only stunt.
What the contract is
Per IO’s press page, Agent 47 targets Dr. Cyrus Cane — Snoop Dogg’s likeness and voice — at a Morsizzles cookie pre-launch party on Haven Island. The brief says an investigation tied the product’s testing to cover-ups and deaths; the contract is to remove Cane as the face of the launch and erase the product. Players need Haven Island unlocked. Cordell C. Broadus also appears in-mission as a party guest, which IO calls a father-son debut inside the franchise.
Elusive Targets are one-shot limited events. Fail or disconnect and the window still closes on the calendar. The free path covers owners and the Free Demo across the platforms IO lists, including PC VR and PlayStation VR2.

Alongside the Elusive Target, IO opened a Season of the Herbalist roadmap: new challenges (including Ambrose Island and Hokkaido beats), Featured Contracts, Twitch Drops, returning Elusive Targets such as The Undying Returns, and IOI Account Rewards. A paid Herbalist Pack ($7.99 / €7.99 / £6.99) adds permanent Arcade and Assignment access plus cosmetics if you want the content after September 26.
