CharacterBank has locked a ship date. Knights of Fiona, the Kyoto studio’s follow-up to RuinsMagus, goes live on Meta Quest 3 / 3S and Steam VR at 1:00 p.m. ET on September 3, 2026 (10:00 a.m. PDT / 5:00 p.m. UTC). That is tonight in Japan and tomorrow afternoon on the U.S. East Coast.

The official Games Press release and the studio’s PR TIMES announcement put the same numbers on the page. The base game is free to start. A $18.99 Story Pass unlocks the full campaign. Chapters 1 through 5 ship at launch; chapter 6 arrives later this year. Quest and Steam VR support full cross-play for parties of up to three.
What you get on day one
Knights of Fiona is a VR action RPG set in Gallia, a fantasy setting where “thoughts become power.” Players join Fiona’s sworn knights and fight with sword, bow, and magic, solo or online. Enemies include dragons and Formorian monsters born from lingering grudges. The English story was localized by Nob Ogasawara; Fiona is voiced by Minami Tsuda in Japanese and Florence St. Leger in English.
UploadVR notes the free tier covers co-op and the introduction, while the Story Pass adds the full campaign and features such as community trading. RPGamer matches that split and confirms the September 3 / 5:00 p.m. UTC window.
Beta, Kickstarter, and the RuinsMagus line
An open beta ran August 14–16, 2026. More than 1,600 players joined cross-platform sessions on Quest and Steam VR; CharacterBank says that feedback fed the final launch build. A 2026 Kickstarter and Campfire campaign raised over 6 million yen from 815 backers. The studio previously shipped RuinsMagus, so this is not a first-VR experiment dressed up as a JRPG.
Storefronts are live for wishlist and day-one download: Meta Horizon Store and Steam. Official site: knights-of-fiona.com.
September’s Quest calendar is already crowded—Transformers: Beyond Reality Redux also lands on the 3rd—but a free-to-start co-op VR JRPG with full Quest–Steam cross-play is the clearer signal for how CharacterBank wants players to actually show up.
