NAVER has made its glasses play OFFICIAL. In a press release dated October 12, 2026, the company said Naver Map now extends turn-by-turn WALKING guidance to AI glasses, starting with Meta’s RAY-BAN META and OAKLEY META, and that it will also support the Google-Samsung “Intelligent Eyewear” due LATER this year. Naver calls itself the FIRST Korean map service to do this. Two details LIMIT the launch: ANDROID comes first, and Naver gave NO date for IPHONE support or for the SAMSUNG glasses.

What Naver Says the Glasses Do
The feature carries Naver Map’s “real-time walking guidance,” which the company added to the phone app in JUNE, to the glasses’ open-ear SPEAKERS. Wearers hear which way to TURN and whether STAIRS or an ESCALATOR is coming up, without CHECKING the phone. Naver’s own example prompt reads: “Your destination is 50m ahead on the LEFT. Would you like a nearby CAFE recommendation?”
Naver also added VOICE commands built for glasses, such as “When will I arrive?” and “Find a CONVENIENCE store nearby.” On the Intelligent Eyewear, Naver says users will be able to open Naver Map and start a route through GEMINI, Google’s assistant. The Samsung hardware, which SammyGuru says goes on sale in NOVEMBER, still has NO published PRICE.
What Changed Since September
On September 29, Korean outlets reported that Meta and Naver would bring the feature to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta by YEAR-END, and we covered that plan at the time. The October 12 release adds TWO things: GOOGLE and SAMSUNG as named partners, and a Meta-first ROLLOUT that the Hankook Ilbo describes as a service START on glasses already sold in Korea. The release still names NO ship date for iOS, which Edaily and Financial News both describe as “sequential.”
The Display Plan Is Still Only a Plan
Naver says that once glasses with built-in DISPLAYS arrive, it expects to draw AR walking routes over the real world and show nearby STORE details and Naver Place COUPONS. The release uses the word “expected,” and lists NO device, partner, or DATE for that step. NEITHER Ray-Ban Meta nor the Samsung glasses has a DISPLAY, so for now this is AUDIO-only navigation.
The BIGGER point is the LOCAL map layer. The Korea Times calls Naver Map Korea’s MOST widely used online map service, so glasses that can talk to it gain a REAL advantage there. Naver is supporting Meta FIRST and plans to support Samsung once its glasses LAUNCH, which means both platforms should have Korea’s leading map app for WALKING directions by year-end. iPhone owners should WAIT for Naver to CONFIRM iOS support before buying glasses for this feature.
