Pedal Rebel VR, the CYBERPUNK street racer that turns ANY stationary exercise bike into a VR CONTROLLER, is set to enter EARLY ACCESS on October 5, 2026 on Meta Quest and SteamVR. UploadVR’s October release calendar (September 30) still LISTS the game for that date on Quest and PC VR, matching the date the developer CONFIRMED at the UploadVR Summer Showcase in June.

How the bike setup works
The hardware pitch is DELIBERATELY low-tech. Players strap, tape, or tie a standard VR motion controller to one LEG, climb onto whatever BIKE they already OWN, and the game reads the pedalling motion as SPEED. There are no proprietary cadence SENSORS to buy. Steering comes from LEANING side to side, and UploadVR notes that handling IMPROVES the FASTER you ride. The studio’s Steam page also points riders to recommended setups and optional mounts that can be 3D-PRINTED or made for free.
The core loop is about TRAFFIC. Narrowly DODGING cars builds energy that can OVERCHARGE the bike for higher top SPEEDS and bigger score multipliers, which feed GLOBAL leaderboards. Points unlock new bikes, songs, levels, achievements, and challenges, and the studio says the soundtrack INTENSIFIES as you ride faster.
What the stores show tonight
- Meta Quest: the Horizon Store listing is in PRE-ORDER at $8.99, down from a $9.99 LIST price, and names QUEST 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S as supported devices.
- Steam: the page (app 2909380) still reads “Coming soon” with NO public price yet. It lists Windows, single-player, tracked controller support, and OpenXR or SteamVR runtimes, with MODEST minimums of 4 GB RAM and 2 GB of storage.
- Studio: developer ToasterFace Games, published by Australian company Kovarch Pty Ltd. The team ran an OPEN ALPHA playtest over the summer and has DEMOED the game at Australian shows including SXSW Sydney, AVCon, and SAGE.
Why it matters
FITNESS remains one of the few VR categories with RELIABLE repeat use, but most bike-based experiences lean on connected trainers or SUBSCRIPTIONS. Pedal Rebel takes the opposite route: a SUB-$10 game, ONE controller on your leg, and a bike you probably already own. The trade-off is PRECISION. A controller strapped to a shin is a ROUGH proxy for CADENCE, so early-access feedback on TRACKING consistency across different bikes will DECIDE whether the idea holds beyond a NOVELTY session.
It also lands in a CROWDED week. Shil, The Magician VR: The Cursed Wand, and Walkabout’s Planet Xylodon course all ARRIVE on October 8. Watch for the Steam PRICE to appear at launch and for the studio’s first early-access ROADMAP, which should clarify how LONG the game stays in that phase.
