AstroBeam’s voice-first sci-fi cafe is LIVE on STEAM. The studio’s September 14 SHIP puts STELLAR CAFE on flat-screen PC, Steam Deck, and STEAM FRAME — and drops the price to $9.99 on BOTH Steam and the Meta Quest store.
AstroBeam founder Devin Reimer confirmed the STEAM window in the studio blog on September 14. Mixed-News (Chris Steven, September 19) listed the title among the pre-October Quest and Steam DROPS at $9.99, noting Reimer’s Job Simulator pedigree and the “your voice is the controller” pitch. Steam app 4415130 now shows a LIVE September 14, 2026 release and a $9.99 MSRP — no longer “Coming soon.”
Voice Is the Controller
Stellar Cafe is built around OPEN SPEECH rather than dialogue trees. Players talk to a rotating cast of ROBOT patrons in a cozy sci-fi cafe; each character is meant to remember context and answer in REAL TIME. A July Games Press release framed the Steam BUILD as flat-screen with gamepad or mouse-and-keyboard, while the Frame / VR path keeps HAND TRACKING and GESTURE interaction from the Quest original. The studio’s site still sells the hook as “the FIRST game built entirely around your voice with real-time natural RESPONSES.”
Frame Verified, Quest Priced Down
VR.org’s Great on Frame catalog already lists STELLAR CAFE among Frame-VERIFIED titles, meaning the headset can run it LOCALLY rather than only as a PC stream. On Steam the store flags Tracked Controller Support and VR Supported; AstroBeam’s launch post adds Steam Deck and flat PC for players who never own a HEADSET. The same post says server-side OPTIMIZATION let the studio CUT the price to $9.99 on Steam and Quest together — matching what Mixed logged for the September window.
From Owlchemy to AstroBeam
Reimer co-created JOB SIMULATOR at Owlchemy Labs before founding AstroBeam. The July announcement cast Stellar Cafe as an EXPERIMENT for both players and the industry: digital characters that LISTEN without scripted trees. Press blurbs on stellarcafe.com cite Road to VR and The Escapist among early VOICES. Quest owners who bought at the higher ticket now share the $9.99 shelf with Steam newcomers — a rare price ALIGNMENT across Meta and Valve storefronts in the same week Steam Frame reviews are stacking up.
