BlackTale Games locked Tales Of Glory 4: Ragnarok for Early Access on SteamVR on September 9. Full-physics Viking melee, warband command, a year-long Early Access window, and a hard controller caveat: Vive Wands and WMR are out.
Steam’s store page for app 4274260 now prints a firm date: September 9, 2026. UploadVR’s September release roundup lists the same day under PC VR as Tales of Glory 4. That is three days from this writing, and the page already counts down to unlock. Aggregators still disagree — some trackers float September 30 — but the live Steam listing is the source that matters.

What Early Access actually ships
BlackTale frames Ragnarok as a prequel to the Tales of Glory line: northern tribes under Eastbornian rule, a young warrior tasked with unity rather than conquest, and a campaign meant to grow into a TOG1-style arc over time. The Early Access FAQ on Steam is unusually concrete about scope:
- Core VR full-physics combat — swings, blocks, grabs, and throws driven by your movement
- Squad-leading for Nordic warriors, including generating your own battles
- Several battlefields and game modes at launch
- One year planned in Early Access
- No price change between Early Access and the final build
- Campaign expansion, new modes, and combat features to be shaped on Steam forums and Discord
Mature-content note from the developer is blunt: realistic medieval battles, expect blood. System floor is Windows 10, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1070 class, 15 GB on disk. Recommended jumps to an RTX 2070. OpenXR on SteamVR only.

Controller gate you should read twice
Steam’s additional notes are not fine print. Ragnarok needs two-button VR controllers — Valve Index, Oculus Touch, or similar. Vive Wands are incompatible. Windows Mixed Reality devices are incompatible. That is a sharper hardware filter than most PC VR early-access pages bother to state. If your living-room kit is still Wand-era hardware, this is not your September 9 download.
Modding is promised as a first-class path — weapons, maps, and larger community experiences — which fits how the first Tales of Glory was built with players in the loop. The studio says community feedback will steer combat, modes, campaign content, and balance. Treat that as process, not a feature checklist with dates.
Why it lands this week
September’s SteamVR and Quest calendar is already crowded: Gunman Contracts Stand Alone on the 10th, Detective VR and Squingle Arcade on the 9th, The Lightkeepers on Quest the same week, Steam Frame still unnamed but loud in the backend. Ragnarok is the physics-melee / warband entry in that pile — Blade & Sorcery adjacent in feel, Mount & Blade adjacent in fantasy, Viking-skinned and Early Access by design.
Price is not on the Steam widget yet. Wishlist is. If full-physics Nordic warfare is your lane, the date to watch is September 9 on Steam, not the aggregator dates that still lag the storefront.
