Spellbound Studio’s Vaelorys — a Diablo-inspired Quest ARPG with gesture spellcasting — is in an open playtest through September 21, ahead of Meta Quest Early Access this winter.
UploadVR reports that Vaelorys, from Spellbound Studio, opened a free Quest playtest on September 7 that runs through September 21, 2026. The build is the studio’s public invitation to stress-test the combat loop before a planned Meta Quest Early Access window this winter.

What you get in the build
Per UploadVR’s Mike Johnson and the studio’s own site, Vaelorys is a dark-fantasy hack-and-slash ARPG built around physical, gesture-based spellcasting. Players clear replayable dungeon and wilderness runs for artifacts, currency, and gear; gear feeds a build path that unlocks tougher encounters. The pitch sheet lists thirty unlockable and upgradable spells plus a full skill tree.

The official site frames the same fantasy: ruined kingdoms, returning ancient threats, and combat that treats punch speed and force as part of the casting model — closer to a physical Diablo fantasy than a button-mapped cooldown sheet. That is the loop the two-week playtest is meant to harden with live Quest feedback.
How to join
Access is through Meta’s channel invitation flow. UploadVR points players to the Meta channel invite and the Vaelorys Quest listing. Spellbound also routes testers through its Discord from vaelorys.com. The window closes September 21; after that, the next public milestone the studio is advertising is Quest Early Access this winter, with community notes feeding the roadmap toward 1.0.

Indie Quest ARPGs with a real gesture combat thesis are still rare on the storefront. A free, time-boxed playtest is the cleanest way for Spellbound to see whether the casting model holds up past a trailer — and for Quest owners to decide whether Vaelorys belongs on a winter wishlist before Early Access locks a price.
