Total Chaos VR is coming to SteamVR as a newly tailored edition—and Meta Quest 3 / Quest 3S get a standalone build on the Horizon Store. Steam owners of the flatscreen game get the VR Edition at no extra cost. No ship day is public yet.
Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive locked the announcement during the August 13, 2026 VR Games Showcase, with the full pitch in a Games Press release. UploadVR calls out the free Steam upgrade. COGconnected and All Hallows Geek match the Quest wishlist and “coming soon” SteamVR window.
Not a headset toggle
The press kit is explicit: this is not a straight port. Item locations and resource distribution are reworked. Select sections are altered and rebalanced for VR interaction and pacing. Returning players get a fresh route through Fort Oasis while the oppressive atmosphere and combat stay intact.
You still play a Coast Guard officer pulled onto a forsaken mining island after a storm. Scavenge, craft, manage a tight inventory, and fight creatures at arm’s length—now with the island’s corridors and mines sitting at headset scale. Akira Yamaoka’s contribution to the flatscreen soundtrack remains part of the franchise pitch in Apogee’s materials.
Steam free, Quest separate
On Steam, anyone who already owns Total Chaos ($24.99) receives the VR Edition when it launches. A standalone Meta Horizon Store SKU targets Quest 3 and Quest 3S; wishlist is live, with price and date still TBA. The flatscreen game is also on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, GOG, and Epic.
Why it matters for the headset calendar
September’s Quest and SteamVR slate is already packed with dated launches. Total Chaos VR is the opposite kind of beat: no day on the box, but a clear commercial structure—free upgrade for PC owners, paid standalone on Quest—and a studio that says the survival systems were rebuilt for hands-on play. Wishlist the Horizon Store listing if you want Fort Oasis without a gaming PC; Steam owners can wait for the free drop.
