Museas and Astronoma Put Curiosity First on Apple Vision Pro

UploadVR’s Laura Mingail talks with Augmenos founder Miguel Garcia Gonzalez about Museas and Astronoma—two Vision Pro apps that treat curiosity as the product, not a lecture.

UploadVR published a fresh interview feature today on Museas and Astronoma, the Apple Vision Pro education apps built entirely by Miguel Garcia Gonzalez, founder of Augmenos. Museas pulls centuries of art history into a living room. Astronoma does the same for spacecraft, missions, and deep-space imagery. Both lean on real source material—scans, NASA/ESA photos, factual audio guides—and keep adding exhibitions so people come back.

Curiosity first, curriculum second

Gonzalez’s design brief, as told to UploadVR, is blunt: immersive learning “shouldn’t have to feel like a tedious lesson, but rather a curious journey that you happen to learn from in the end.” He starts with “wow” moments, then lets people explore “at the depth and scale they are naturally interested in reaching.” To avoid drowning users in menus, denser material is compartmentalized into exhibitions—optional paths rather than a forced syllabus.

He is also selective about what becomes spatial. Newer Apple APIs such as Spatial Scenes can lift some artworks and space images into 3D, but only when the source “presents well.” In Astronoma’s Sputnik 1 example, the spacecraft sits in 3D while archival photos and diagrams stay planar, so attention stays on the model instead of a busy periphery. “The educational content is the star,” he told UploadVR. Immersion is supposed to support that, not compete with it.

What the apps actually ship

Museas (visionOS 26+) is an art-history spatial library: immersive paintings with audio guides, high-resolution 3D artifact reconstructions you can pick up and expand, artist and movement paths, and themed environments (museum hall, cathedral, shrine). An earlier UploadVR hands-on noted Version 3.0’s visionOS widgets—selected works can stay pinned in your space after the app closes—plus offline downloads and paid exhibition tickets typically in the $5.99–$8.99 range alongside a free catalog. Apple’s App Store story on Museas also flags VoiceOver, Voice Control, Dwell Control, and Zoom for close inspection of brushwork without walking into a painting.

Astronoma 3 (also visionOS 26+) is the space counterpart: an Observatory of curated NASA/ESA imagery with scientific commentary, tactile 3D spacecraft and planetary models, pioneer biographies, deep-space cinema footage including 8K 360° simulations, and an interactive spaceports map. Gonzalez told UploadVR that a recent “Space Station” environment was built from real ISS orbital data and NASA imagery in Reality Composer Pro / RealityKit, optimized so users can reposition the sun in real time without abandoning the science. Offline mode for audio guides and exhibitions is live in the 3.x update.

Why it matters on Vision Pro

Most Vision Pro “education” still means a flat video or a one-shot demo. Museas and Astronoma are the quieter counter-example: solo-developer apps that treat factual integrity as a product requirement, use spatial only where it helps, and ship ongoing exhibition catalogs instead of a single launch dump. UploadVR’s piece is less a release-day review than a design case study—and on a hardware platform still hunting for everyday software worth putting on every morning, that is the more useful beat.
