Samsung Electronics has put a MONTH on the calendar. On October 1, 2026, The Korea Herald reported that a Samsung official confirmed the company’s first artificial-intelligence glasses will LAUNCH in NOVEMBER — sharpening the vague “fall 2026” window that followed Google I/O and Galaxy Unpacked.

The product, branded Intelligent Eyewear, runs on Android XR and pairs with a Galaxy smartphone. There is NO visual DISPLAY. A built-in CAMERA and microphones feed what the wearer sees and hears into Google’s GEMINI stack; replies come back through the glasses’ SPEAKERS only. Pricing remains UNANNOUNCED.
The Verge and Android Authority both amplified the Korea Herald confirmation on October 1, framing it as the clearest SHIP signal since Samsung’s U.S. FCC paperwork landed. Our own coverage of those filings — SM-O200J (Gentle Monster) and SM-O200P (Warby Parker) — noted regulatory clearance without a firm month. NOVEMBER is the new FACT on the table.
Weight, Partners, and a Meta-Shaped Market
Samsung is pitching WEIGHT as a differentiator. At July’s Unpacked event in London the company called the frames “lighter than most AI glasses.” Local Korean reporting cited a TARGET of up to FIVE grams below Meta’s roughly 51-gram Ray-Ban Meta base model, though Samsung has not published a FINAL mass figure. Frame design sits with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker — the same partnerships staged at I/O and Unpacked.

The competitive backdrop is harsh. Counterpoint Research (cited by Korea Herald) says global AI-glasses shipments jumped 263 PERCENT year over year in the first half of 2026, with display-less models making up 96 PERCENT of the mix — and META holding about 94 PERCENT of that segment. Samsung is walking into a market Meta already owned with camera glasses and, as of Meta Connect on September 23, a camera-free Ray-Ban Meta AUDIO line as well.
Privacy Pressure Before Day One
Korea’s privacy fight reached Samsung before LAUNCH. The Personal Information Protection Commission reportedly met the company in late July over how bystanders should be alerted when cameras or microphones are live. The Ministry of Science and ICT began drafting safer-use guidelines in September amid worries about covert filming and exam cheating. Samsung says LEDs inside and outside the frame will INDICATE recording, and that the camera DISABLES if the external indicator is obscured — a familiar pattern after Meta’s own capture-light hardware checks.

Road to VR’s October 1 FCC follow-up still lists no official SPEC sheet beyond the widely reported Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, a single 12MP front camera with indicator LED, and up to NINE hours per charge plus a portable case. Those details remain SECONDARY to the calendar news: Samsung is no longer saying “sometime this fall.” It is saying NOVEMBER.
What to Watch Next
Expect a PRICE, exact SKU list, and regional ROLLOUT map before the first units land. Until then, treat October 1’s Korea Herald confirmation as the OPERATIONAL update: Android XR’s first Samsung consumer frames are scheduled for NOVEMBER 2026, aimed squarely at Meta’s display-less AI-glasses LEAD.
