Digit’s September 28 feature frames the XR market as three COMPETING VISIONS, not a single headset race. Apple bets on an all-on-face PREMIUM machine. Samsung and Google bet on an Android XR platform. Meta bets on games, cinema, and a pocket PUCK that keeps the glasses near 100 GRAMS. Vyom Ramani’s comparison — Vision Pro versus Galaxy XR versus Meta VR Glasses — is about architecture and strategy more than another chip checklist.

Apple’s bet is the most expensive and the most self-contained. Vision Pro starts at $3,499, weighs roughly 750 TO 800 GRAMS on the face, and delivers about a 100° field of view on visionOS with deep Mac integration. Digit argues the product is too good — and too costly — to become a mass PLATFORM while the WEIGHT still punishes longer sessions. Critics still rate passthrough and Mac pairing among the best on the market; comfort is the tax.

Samsung’s Galaxy XR is the Android answer on sale NOW at $1,799 and about 545 GRAMS. Google apps and Gemini ship preloaded on Android XR: Samsung builds the SHOWCASE headset; Google supplies the operating system so other manufacturers can join later. Digit reads that as the smartphone platform play strapped to your face — half Vision Pro’s sticker, with a path for a wider ECOSYSTEM.

Meta chose the SPLIT no rival matched. Meta VR Glasses are priced at $1,299 for SPRING 2027. Sensors and micro-OLED displays (about 5K combined) sit in a magnesium alloy frame at about 100 GRAMS; compute, power, and memory live in a tethered Snapdragon Reality Elite puck. Content is the counterweight: IMAX ENHANCED certification, Disney+ VR titles, the Quest LIBRARY on day one, plus support for Touch Plus, Quest 3 controllers, and gamepads. The cost of lightness remains — 70° horizontal field of view, about three hours of battery, and no controllers in the box — so $1,299 is the FLOOR, not the finished kit.
Digit’s India angle matters for who actually COMPETES: Meta has not announced India pricing or availability, and IMPORT DUTIES will shape the shelf. Meanwhile Meta still has MONTHS before launch for Apple and Samsung to answer with price cuts, lighter designs, or smarter software. Meta has shown its hand; Apple and Samsung have not.
THREE BETS, ONE MARKET: buy Vision Pro NOW if you need a premium spatial Mac workspace and will tolerate face WEIGHT. Choose Galaxy XR if you want Android XR and Gemini TODAY at a mid-premium price. WAIT for Meta VR Glasses if cinema, games, and PORTABILITY matter more than a wide FOV this year. The industry is splitting by job, not converging on one shape.
