Meta Adventurer, the rectangular frame in Meta’s house-brand AI glasses line, is now on sale in a $249 configuration, the lowest price Meta has put on any pair of its camera glasses. The bundle went on sale on October 23, 2026, a month after Meta opened preorders at Connect 2026. It is not a price cut on the existing Adventurer. It is a fixed version, with a black frame, grey lenses and a plug-in case in place of the battery charging case, and that case is the whole tradeoff.

What Meta Announced, and What Shipped
In its September 23 lineup post, Meta described “a new Meta Adventurer, featuring a black frame and grey lenses, with a plug-in case starting at $249 USD,” available for preorder on Meta.com and “on sale October 23 in all countries where Meta Glasses are sold.” Mixed News noted at the time that Meta gave no price outside the US. Meta’s Connect round-up called it “a low-cost Meta Adventurer,” and the standard Adventurer on the Meta Store is still listed at $299.
That $299 figure is the price the Meta Glasses line has carried since Meta and EssilorLuxottica launched it on June 23, and the price Charter matched when it put the Adventurer on demo tables in Spectrum stores, as we reported in September. The new bundle takes $50 off by changing what comes in the box, not what is in the frame.
The Only Real Difference: the Case
The $299 Meta Glasses ship with a foldable charging case that Meta rates at up to 40 extra hours of battery, on top of more than eight hours in the frames. The $249 bundle’s case plugs into a power source and has no battery of its own, and Meta publishes no extra-hours figure for it. In practice, the cheaper case charges the glasses at a desk or bedside but does nothing for you in a bag on a long day out.

The electronics are otherwise the line’s standard set, per Meta’s product listings and launch coverage: a 12 MP camera, video at up to 3K resolution, open-ear speakers, six microphones, Meta AI by voice, Spotify playback and spoken translation. Like every Meta camera pair, it has a recording LED. There is no display. Answers come through the speakers.
Where $249 Sits in Meta’s Lineup
The new bundle opens a price ladder that Meta has spread across three brands. Meta says it will offer more than 100 glasses options by the end of 2026, counting color, lens and frame combinations across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses.

- $249: Meta Adventurer, black frame, grey lenses, plug-in case.
- $299: Meta Adventurer with the battery charging case.
- $349: Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Meta’s first glasses with no camera, rated at 12 hours.
- $399: the Ivory Kylie Jenner colorway and the two LISA editions.
- $449: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), with nine hours of battery and a new action button.
- $579: the Aviator Connect Limited Edition.
The odd consequence is that the cheapest pair Meta sells has a camera, while the $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio does not. Buyers who want audio and AI without recording the people around them pay $100 more for that choice.
Why the Entry Price Matters
Volume in this market sits at the low end. Counterpoint Research found AI glasses shipments rose 263% year over year in the first half of 2026, and 96% of those glasses had no display, a segment where Meta held 94%. Samsung’s first Android XR glasses, which are also camera-and-audio with no display, are expected in November with no announced price. A $249 Meta pair sets the bar Samsung and Google now have to price against, and it lands before either has a product on shelves. For a wider view of the field, see our guide to the best smart glasses of 2026.
The cheaper price also arrives while camera glasses face more scrutiny, from Europe’s data protection regulators to a proposed smart glasses ban in Norway, and Meta has been fielding questions about its recording light, as we covered in our report on Meta’s AI glasses privacy LED. A lower price puts more cameras on more faces.
Who Should Buy the $249 Version
For a first-time buyer who will charge overnight, the $249 bundle gives the same camera, audio and Meta AI as the $299 pair for 17% less. Commuters, travelers and heavy daily users should pay the extra $50 for the battery case, since a full day of calls, music and 3K video can drain eight hours of frame battery well before evening. Prescription wearers should confirm their lens range on Meta.com before ordering, because prescription lenses change both price and eligibility.
