visionOS 27.2 Out Now: What’s New and What’s Still Broken

Apple has released visionOS 27.2 to Apple Vision Pro owners, build 24N120, in the same October 26 wave as watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2. It is the first feature-numbered update since visionOS 27 shipped on September 14, and Apple’s own wording is modest: bug fixes and security updates. The developer release notes tell a more useful story, because one issue Metaverse Watcher has TRACKED since beta 3 shipped UNRESOLVED.

What Apple Shipped

Apple’s developer releases feed lists visionOS 27.2 (24N120) at 10:00 a.m. PT on Monday. MacRumors reports that Apple’s notes describe the update as bug fixes and security updates. Owners install it from Settings > General > Software Update. The headset has to be taken off during installation, and a progress bar appears on the EyeSight display.

AppleInsider found no Vision Pro-specific features. It notes that there was never a visionOS 27.1, because Apple reserved that number for the iPhone Duo branch, and it lists platform-wide changes that also reach the headset: Siri AI support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and an App Tracking Transparency prompt that EU users will see at least once a year. Headsets set to update automatically will pick up the build within a few days.

The Safari 3D Object Bug Is Still Open

The visionOS 27.2 release notes still carry the Quick Look entry first flagged in beta 3 on October 5: “3D objects opened from Safari might reposition unexpectedly when you move them.” Apple tracks it as issue 187035825, and it remains under Known Issues with no workaround.

That matters for anyone using the web, rather than a native app, to put USDZ models in front of Vision Pro users. Retailers, museums and product configurators that rely on the Safari-to-Quick Look path now have a PUBLIC release where a grabbed model can drift. As we noted when beta 4 repeated beta 3’s notes, Apple has never said when the fix will land. Teams should keep testing grab-and-move behavior on 24N120 instead of assuming the problem is gone.

One New Known Issue: Siri and ChatGPT

The final notes add an entry that did not appear in the beta 4 notes. If someone asks ChatGPT a question through Siri while the ChatGPT integration is turned off in Settings, “Siri might become unresponsive” (189382856). Apple’s workaround is to force quit Siri and then turn ChatGPT on in Settings. That is a small consumer-facing caveat, but it lands in the same release that widens Siri AI to five more languages.

The rest of the document covers StoreKit Testing in Xcode. Three sandbox fixes carried over from the betas: intro-offer eligibility now resets after SKTestSession.clearTransactions(), storefront and locale changes propagate through Storefront.updates, and error dialogs respect dialogsDisabled. One subscription-bundle issue (186018916) is still listed as known.

Security Details Not Yet Posted

At the time of writing, Apple’s security releases page had no visionOS 27.2 entry. The previous public build, visionOS 27.0.1 from September 28, was listed with no published CVE entries. Apple often posts CVE details after a release goes out, so owners should not read the gap as an absence of fixes. We will not speculate on specific vulnerabilities until Apple publishes them.

What Is Not in This Update

Apple’s notes do not mention the Photos crash on very large panoramas that we covered in October. Without a fix listed, the safe practice is unchanged: convert panoramas larger than 300MB to JPEG or HEIC before importing them.

The quiet update also fits the wider picture for Apple’s headset. Hardware reporting this autumn has pointed to a slower Vision Pro roadmap, which leaves point releases like this one as the main way existing owners see improvement. For a full rundown of the hardware, pricing and whether the headset is worth buying now, see our Apple Vision Pro 2026 guide, and for alternatives, our list of the best VR headsets of 2026.

Should You Install visionOS 27.2?

Yes, for most owners. It is a security and stability release, and Apple’s notes list only the two consumer-facing caveats above. Developers who ship web-delivered 3D content should install it on a test headset FIRST and check how models behave in Quick Look, since that bug is the one Apple has openly said is still there.
