By Metaverse Watcher staff. Published October 26, 2026.

Even Realities today launched Brown 2, a tortoiseshell-style colorway for its camera-free Even G2 display glasses, priced at $649 in the U.S. The company also released two accessories, a polarized clip-on sun lens at $149 and a stainless steel neck chain at $79. All three are on sale WORLDWIDE starting today through the Even Realities store, according to the company’s press release.

What Is New in Even G2 Brown 2

Brown 2 is a new frame finish, not new hardware. Traditional tortoiseshell eyewear is usually acetate, which Even Realities notes is sensitive to heat and humidity. That matters for glasses that hold waveguide displays in precise alignment, so the company says it developed a new material that carries the layered pattern through the whole frame rather than printing it on the surface. Each frame is shaped, pressed, tumbled and polished for 20 hours, so no two pairs look exactly alike.

Even Realities also calls Brown 2 the LIGHTEST Even G2 to date, but it has not published a weight. The standard G2 is listed at 36 grams on the product page, so Brown 2 should come in below that. Both frame shapes are offered: the rounder Frame A and the more rectangular Frame B.

Brown 2 carries a $50 premium over the $599 standard G2. The sun clip is the more practical of the two add-ons: outdoor use has been a weak spot for in-lens displays, and polarized lenses that cut glare from roads and water should help both comfort and display readability on bright days. The clips are made for both Frame A and Frame B. The $79 chain, as Engadget put it, is “certainly spendy for a chain.”

Even G2 Specs: Unchanged

Under the new finish, Brown 2 is a standard Even G2. According to Even Realities’ specifications page:

  • Display: binocular green micro LED with waveguides, 640 × 350 resolution, 27.5° field of view, 60Hz, up to 1,200 nits
  • Camera: none, by design
  • Audio input: four microphones for conversation notes, translation and voice prompts
  • Battery: 192mAh in the glasses, rated for about two days of regular use; the 2,000mAh case recharges them about seven times
  • Durability: IP65 water and dust resistance, magnesium alloy frame, titanium alloy temples
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth LE 5.4

Features include notifications, live translation, a teleprompter and AI prompts. Even Realities has kept adding software, including the QuickNote shortcuts and R1 ring firmware in app 2.3.2. Controls remain the most common complaint in reviews; Engadget said a recent update added new gestures and refined on-glasses controls. How Brown 2 Compares

Even’s main rival for heads-up display glasses is the Meta Ray-Ban Display, which costs $799 with the Meta Neural Band and has a color display in the right lens plus a camera. Even G2 is the choice for buyers who want a display but NO camera, which removes the recording worries that have followed Meta’s glasses. Shoppers who do not need a display at all have cheaper options, such as the $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio. Our best smart glasses of 2026 guide compares all the main categories side by side.

The launch also shows where display glasses are heading. With hardware updates on yearly cycles and display supply still tight (see our report on Samsung and LG’s AR glasses display push), makers are competing on frames, finishes and accessories, the way traditional eyewear brands do. Android Authority noted that comfort and style may matter as much as features if smart glasses are to become everyday wear.

Should You Buy Even G2 Brown 2?

If you were already planning to buy an Even G2 and prefer a classic tortoiseshell look, Brown 2 is worth the extra $50, and it is the lightest version available. If you own a G2, there is NO functional reason to upgrade; the polarized clip is the add-on most likely to change how you use them. Prescription G2 orders are custom-made and, per the store, cannot be cancelled after 24 hours, so check frame sizes before ordering.
