PAYDAY: Aces High Locks Q4 2026 on Steam. Six Heists, No Janky Hostages.

Steam’s storefront now lists PAYDAY: Aces High for Q4 2026. Fast Travel’s CCO just walked through six launch heists, five difficulties, and the jank they cut to keep VR tempo high.

Steam has moved PAYDAY: Aces High from a soft “2026” tease into a concrete Q4 2026 coming-soon window. That is the clearest public timing yet for Fast Travel Games’ officially licensed Starbreeze heist shooter on Meta Quest and SteamVR — and it lands while the studio’s August playtests and a late-August design interview are still fresh.

What Q4 actually locks in

Starbreeze and Fast Travel announced the license on March 24, 2026, with Fast Travel’s own reveal post putting Meta Quest and SteamVR on the same calendar year. UploadVR’s August 13 playtest note still said “later in 2026.” The Steam appdetails payload now reads Q4 2026 with coming_soon: true — a quieter slip from earlier Q3 copy that still floated around secondary listings.

That matters because September is already the hardware month (Snap SPECS on the 16th, Meta Connect on the 23rd–24th). Aces High is not competing for that stage. It is competing for the holiday co-op slot on headsets people already own.

Six heists, five difficulties, AI fill-ins

In an UploadVR interview published August 25, Fast Travel CCO Erik Odeldahl said launch builds around six heists and five difficulty levels, each runnable stealth or loud. A seventh heist is planned “very soon after launch,” with further live support beyond map drops. Heists run as four-player jobs; AI companions fill empty seats so solo and duo crews are not locked out.

The revenge frame is specific. After being set up by business titan Warren Jupiter, the Aces hit banks, museums, and a luxury penthouse tied to his empire — the same pitch Fast Travel and Starbreeze put on the March reveal and the official Aces High site.

What they cut to keep VR clean

Odeldahl’s most useful line was about subtraction. A classic bank hostage-exchange beat was removed because physical NPC interaction in VR tended to go “janky,” and the team wanted guns, gadgets, and physical interactions instead. The studio also pushed a higher tempo than flat PAYDAY — more hectic, more intense — and leaned into alternate ways to stall security and widen stealth options.

Loadouts still track the four Ace roles Fast Travel listed at reveal: Hearts (Mastermind), Clubs (Ghost), Diamonds (Technician), Spades (Enforcer), with weapons plus gadgets such as grapples and sentry guns. Cross-play between Quest and SteamVR is part of the stated target set; a PlayStation VR2 port remains a “no promises” maybe from Odeldahl’s April community AMA, not a commitment.

Why this slot matters

Fast Travel’s recent résumé — Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice, Apex Construct, Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife — is the reason Starbreeze handed over a 50-million-player franchise instead of shipping a first-party VR experiment. August’s closed playtests on Quest 3 and SteamVR were the first public stress test of whether that bet feels like PAYDAY or just another four-player shooter with masks.

Wishlist pages are live on Steam and the Meta Horizon Store. Price is still unlisted. The only date that currently sticks is Steam’s Q4 2026 window — which means if Fast Travel wants holiday four-stacks, the build that left the August playtests has about one more quarter to prove the cuts were the right ones.
