In Death: Unchained Locks Fall Season 2026 for September 29. Superbright Breaks the Quiet.

Superbright put a date on the next season of In Death: Unchained. The long-running current season ends September 29. Fall Season 2026 starts the same day. The studio’s CEO says season changes will now land about every six months.

UploadVR reports today that Superbright’s Quest-only archery roguelike is leaving its quiet stretch. CEO Wojtek told the game’s Discord that a new season is locked, and that the team has structured the cadence so seasons change roughly every six months from here. Spanish outlet Realovirtual adds the clock: Fall Season 2026 opens September 29 at 14:00 CET (8:00 a.m. ET).

What changes on September 29

Unchained’s seasons run on leaderboards. Players earn Legend Points from overall performance, climb ranks, and unlock Sanctuary rewards. When a season ends, the boards reset. Achievements stick. That is the same loop UploadVR describes for past season rolls, and Realovirtual’s write-up matches it for Fall 2026: boards zero out, then archers farm normal and legendary points again through Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell.

Because the current season has run unusually long, Superbright is handing out bonus Legend Points to anyone who played it — including runs from now until the September 29 cutoff. UploadVR quotes the studio’s bar: the bonus should be “large enough for even a player starting from zero Legend Points to unlock a reward.” That is a soft landing for returning players who sat out the quiet years, not a soft wipe of progress.

Why the studio went quiet

Wojtek’s Discord note, as carried by UploadVR, is blunt about the last two years. The team was building something new alongside Unchained. The war in Ukraine hit staff. The wider games industry contraction hit everyone else. Superbright is a smaller team now, juggling more roles, and it held the season announcement until it could follow through. Player messages — including people asking for a way to buy the game again just to support the studio — are what Wojtek says kept the lights on.

Realovirtual notes the social accounts for Superbright VR had sat idle for about two years and are moving again, with the studio saying it took “a lot of effort and sacrifice to get here” and that more news is coming. Those posts do not name a Steam Frame port or a PS VR2 version. Community speculation on both is just that — speculation — until Superbright says otherwise.

Quest-only lineage

Important split: Superbright ships In Death: Unchained on Meta Quest. The original In Death on SteamVR was built by Sólfar Studios and has not been updated in years, per UploadVR. Do not treat a Quest season drop as a PC VR revival. The Meta Store listing for app 2334376869949242 remains the live storefront.

What is confirmed for September 29: season end, Fall Season 2026 start, leaderboard reset with kept achievements, a six-month-ish cadence going forward, and a catch-up Legend Point bonus for the current season. What is not confirmed yet: the full Fall reward sheet, any new modes or maps, or a platform expansion. Superbright says more detail is coming on socials. Until then, the actionable window is simple — play before the 29th if you want the bonus points.
