Just Hoops 2.0 Brings Hand Tracking and Accessibility to Quest Arcade Basketball

Realcast just shipped JUST HOOPS 2.0 on QUEST, a MAJOR update that leans hard into HAND TRACKING and more ACCESSIBLE ways to shoot — timing that lands the same week Meta unveiled controller-free VR GLASSES at Connect.

UploadVR’s Mike Johnson (Sep 25) reports the year-long rebuild used player FEEDBACK plus added support from META, which now has a clear reason to push bare-hand play ahead of the spring 2027 glasses LAUNCH. The update is LIVE NOW on Quest; Steam parity is still UNCONFIRMED.

Natural Shot, Pointer Shot, and Assists

NATURAL SHOT is the full PHYSICAL loop: reach out with your real HANDS, grab the ball, and throw at the hoop. Optional ASSISTS soften the learning curve — pinch-to-grab for hand tracking, button grab for controllers, and AIM ASSIST that nudges shots toward the rim. Scoring awards up to EIGHT POINTS per basket depending on how many assists you leave on, so clean UNASSISTED form still pays.

POINTER SHOT is the CASUAL lane. Aim with your hand and fire with a simple GESTURE for a flat TWO POINTS per make. UploadVR flags it as better for SEATED, noncompetitive play — a useful bridge for players who want arcade basketball without a full standing WORKOUT.

Mixed Reality Trickshots and Multiplayer

TRICKSHOTS mode turns your real room into a basketball playground in MIXED REALITY. Players place HOOPS and obstacles around the space to invent custom shots — UploadVR compares the vibe to the old Michael Jordan / Larry Bird “Nothing But Net” spot. Online MATCHMAKING and private rooms support up to FOUR PLAYERS.

Quality-of-life work is thick for a mid-cycle drop. ZEN MODE strips the timer so you can PRACTICE without score pressure. Progression to new levels, series, and challenges is CLEARER. Tutorials are refreshed, the menu UI is redesigned, levels are more DYNAMIC, and a 1970s-INSPIRED retro court joins the catalog.

Why It Matters for Meta VR Glasses

Meta’s Connect pitch for VR GLASSES centers eyes, hands, and voice — not bundled Touch controllers. Titles that already treat hand tracking as the DEFAULT, not a novelty toggle, are the catalog Meta needs before spring 2027. Just Hoops 2.0 is not a glasses-only EXCLUSIVE, but it is exactly the kind of Quest app Meta is funding toward that form factor.

The game remains available on the Meta Horizon Store. Developer Realcast frames it as mixed-reality arcade basketball with more than 60 CHALLENGES built around timing, accuracy, rhythm, and FLOW. For Metaverse Watcher readers tracking the hand-first Connect wave — Beat Saber Flux, Cardmada, Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities — this is a SHIPPING update, not a 2027 wishlist card.
