Lucyd Aero Ships at $149 With Invisible Touchpads, and Its Camera-Free Pitch Leaves Always-Listening Glasses Behind

Innovative Eyewear opened orders TODAY for Lucyd Aero, a CAMERA-FREE smartglasses line priced at a $149 MSRP and sold EXCLUSIVELY through Lucyd.co. The Nasdaq-listed company (ticker LUCY) framed the collection as a PRIVACY-FIRST alternative to always-listening, camera-equipped AI glasses—and as a frame that LOOKS like ordinary eyewear.

What ships—and what stays OFF the frame

According to the company’s October 8 press release, every Aero frame WEIGHS between 1 and 1.2 ounces. The Aero Lark style is the LIGHTEST at 1 ounce (28 grams), which the company says puts it ON PAR with many traditional frames and among the lightest smartglasses from a U.S. provider.

Aero is the FIRST Lucyd collection with NO visible buttons, switches, or exterior lights. Two INVISIBLE touchpads handle control. The glasses are CAMERA-FREE and are NOT always listening; the company says they activate ONLY through those touchpads—a DELIBERATE privacy pitch against competitors that keep cameras and microphones CLOSER to always-on.

Software: multi-AI, walkie, translation

Paired with the Lucyd app, Aero offers FREE multi-AI access to ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, plus public and private Walkie features, custom Newscasts, and translation both LOCALLY and over calls. That FEATURE set is software-side; the HARDWARE story is weight, discreet styling, and the ABSENCE of a camera.

CEO Harrison Gross said the company has “completely eliminated all costs of switching from traditional eyewear to smart,” arguing Aero MATCHES traditional look and feel while adding calls, on-demand news, and INSTANT AI. Dibby Bartlett, a company director and former president of the Opticians Association of America, tied adoption to FIT and COMFORT—the barriers opticians face when they try to move patients onto smart frames.

Context: a LAUNCH, not the October 6 sales note

Two days EARLIER, Innovative Eyewear posted PRELIMINARY Q3 2026 net sales of about $1.04 million and flagged Aero as a holiday-window product. TODAY’s release is the COMMERCIAL launch: $149 MSRP, exclusive web storefront, and a concrete privacy claim. The company did NOT publish a camera sensor list or a battery RUNTIME figure in the launch note, so those SPECIFICS remain OPEN.

For XR watchers, Aero sits in the audio-and-AI glasses tier—NOT optical see-through AR like Snap Specs or Xreal Aura, and NOT Meta’s camera-forward Ray-Ban Meta line. The DIFFERENTIATOR Innovative Eyewear is selling is ordinary-looking frames at a MASS-MARKET price, with cameras LEFT OFF the bill of MATERIALS.
