UploadVR: Android XR Bridge Runs Quest Exclusives on PC VR. Early Access Slips.

UploadVR (James Tocchio) covers an experimental Windows runtime that lets PC VR owners play LEGAL Meta Quest Android builds — including exclusives — at resolutions the headset itself cannot HOLD.

Android XR Bridge, or AXRB, is an experimental software project from developer Feli Reintgen. It targets Windows and is designed to run Android-based VR applications made for Meta Quest on a gaming PC, then pipe them through OpenXR so a SteamVR-class headset can display the session.

The headline draw is PERFORMANCE. UploadVR notes early builds were rough, but recent updates have enabled 4K per eye rendering at 120 FPS. Reintgen demonstrated that on social media with Pinball FX VR — the Quest build, not the classic PC edition — arguing those frame and resolution targets would NEVER have been possible on Quest hardware alone. Latency, he said, came mainly from the network path in that demo.

Legal Copies Only. Hardware Locks Come Off.

UploadVR stresses AXRB is built around LEGAL COPIES of Quest games. The tool behaves like a traditional emulator to remove hardware restrictions, after which the title runs on OpenXR. You must OWN the game files. That framing matters for a storefront culture that already fights sideloads of exclusive catalogs.

Named examples in the report include Batman: Arkham Shadow, Deadpool VR, and Asgard’s Wrath 2 — titles that define Meta’s first-party and exclusive PIPELINE. For PC VR players locked out of those SKUs without a Quest, a stable bridge would CHANGE the library math overnight.

September 21 Early Access Delayed

AXRB’s Early Access launch was originally planned for Monday, September 21. UploadVR reports the developer announced a DELAY the same week via the app’s Discord. The blockers: an installer that FAILS, an emulator that fails to LAUNCH games, and thin game support that leaves “a lot of the untested games fail[ing] most of the time.”

That slip is the news hook for Connect week. The technical demo is real enough for UploadVR to cover; the shipping product is NOT ready for a broad Early Access drop. Reintgen’s Discord note reads as a quality gate, not a kill decision.

What It Means Before Connect

Even unfinished, AXRB sketches a future where Meta’s Android exclusives are less tied to a single silicon SKU. UploadVR’s through-line is cautious optimism: PC VR users may soon access Meta’s Quest LIBRARY with little or no modification to the original Android builds — IF the installer, launch path, and compatibility matrix HOLD.

For Metaverse Watcher readers, treat this as a developer EXPERIMENT with a public demo trail, not a storefront RELEASE. Watch the Discord for a revised Early Access WINDOW. Until then, Quest exclusives stay on Quest — and AXRB stays the most interesting unfinished BRIDGE in PC VR this month.
