DFRobot opened preorders on 14 September for seeMote Cap, a mountable 6DoF spatial tracking module aimed at Apple Vision Pro developers who need real tools in visionOS apps — not another generic controller. The module is priced at $229, with non-U.S. orders expected to ship by late September and U.S. orders in early November, according to the company’s product page and a same-day PR Newswire release.

The pitch is deliberately narrow. Cap clamps onto screwdrivers, training instruments, lab tools, or teaching models so apps can read the object’s position, orientation, and motion while the user keeps the familiar grip. DFRobot product manager Chunxiao Liu framed it as “keep the tool, add spatial tracking,” pointing at training, inspection, and hands-on learning rather than consumer entertainment.

Cap is the mountable half of DFRobot’s seeMote line, introduced earlier with seeMote Cube (a handheld controller with buttons and haptics). For visionOS teams already building on Spatial Accessory APIs, this is a parts-bin option that skips a custom tracked enclosure for early prototypes.
It does not replace hand or eye input. DFRobot positions Cap as an additive tracked tool for industrial assembly training, medical simulation, lab education, and vocational skill assessment — workflows where the physical object matters as much as the hologram.
