The Light Brigade: Definitive Edition is already LIVE on Steam and Quest — and its farewell patch quietly baked in something Steam Frame BUYERS can use RIGHT NOW. Funktronic Labs shipped Update 5.0 as the FINAL content drop, renamed the game Definitive Edition, and put official Steam Frame support on the FIRST line of the changelog. Valve’s store page now stamps it Steam Frame Verified, calling the standalone run “SILKY SMOOTH at full NATIVE resolution.”

That TIMING matters this week. Steam Frame purchase EMAILS started rolling out September 18 with a 72-hour BUY window. Owners hunting a finished, VERIFIED standalone shooter do not need to wait for another studio PATCH — Funktronic already did the work on the way OUT.
What the Farewell Build Adds
UploadVR and Funktronic’s Steam news post spell out Update 5.0 beyond Frame SUPPORT:
- Lebes — a war-torn European TOWN biome built for narrow streets, upper floors, and doorway-to-doorway FIGHTS
- Three new tarot sets (Aspect of Man, War, and Peace) — 38 new cards, bringing the TOTAL to 99 unique tarot cards
- Crystal attachments that hang EFFECTS off every shot (gold on hit, splash, restored wand CHARGE, and more)
- Performance work — fog, terrain, shaders, and SSAO OPTIMIZED so many players can push render SCALE roughly 10–20% higher
- Universe Selector challenge routes, including remixed and custom RUNS

The studio’s goodbye note on Steam is BLUNT: five major content UPDATES since the February 2023 launch, then a clean CLOSE. “It has been an honor building this game alongside such an incredible COMMUNITY.” PlayStation VR2 still waits on 5.0 — Funktronic says that PATCH comes later.
Frame Verified — Then a Flat Next Act
Steam’s product page is EXPLICIT: The Light Brigade is fully Steam Frame Verified and meant to deliver a seamless STANDALONE VR experience out of the BOX. That is a rare gift from a studio that is DONE shipping VR content for this TITLE.
Funktronic’s next project is Scramble Knights Online, an MMO-lite action RPG aimed at Q4 2026 — and it is NOT a VR game. UploadVR flagged the studio joining the growing list of VR veterans exploring options OUTSIDE the headset. The farewell Frame stamp is the LAST major VR DELIVERY from a team that launched Cosmic Trip and Fujii before this award-winning ROGUELIKE.
Where to Play
Definitive Edition is AVAILABLE NOW on Steam (listed at $24.99 at publish time) and on the Meta Quest STORE. Steam Frame buyers with a purchase INVITE can treat the Verified badge as a day-one STANDALONE pick. PSVR2 owners should WAIT for the 5.0 note before expecting Lebes and the new TAROT sets.
