Coal Car Studio’s asymmetrical party putter is LEAVING Quest Early Access for a full STEAM launch. MIXED dates the 1.0 DROP for SEPTEMBER 22, with STEAM FRAME VERIFIED status from day one and CROSS-PLAY back to Quest.

The Vancouver studio has spent more than a year iterating on Quest. Its PRESS KIT still lists the June 2025 Early Access window, a $9.99 Quest price, and a free companion app for phone SABOTEURS. The Steam store page now lists the PC VR build as COMING SOON, OpenXR-ready, with motion controllers required for standing or room-scale play.
One Headset. Whole Party.
Fruit Golf’s pitch is simple and stubbornly social. One player PUTTS in VR. Everyone else joins on iOS or ANDROID for free and drops sharks, barrels, portals, and flying pigs onto the course. The studio calls it pass-and-play party mode: SHARE a single HEADSET, rotate the golfer, keep the room in the joke.

That design matters for STEAM FRAME owners who want living-room DEMOS without four headsets. VR.org’s Great on Frame tracker already lists Fruit Golf as VERIFIED as of September 6, 2026 — well ahead of the Steam 1.0 window — which means Valve’s on-device bar (at least 72 FPS at 1728×1728 for standalone VR) is already cleared in Valve’s own catalog.
Fruit Physics, Sabotage Arsenal
Instead of a ball, you SWING watermelons, lemons, pineapples, and other produce with distinct MASS and BOUNCE. Courses run from pirate ships to kitchens to space. Mobile players place OBSTACLES mid-putt; VR players UNLOCK clubs and AVATARS through challenges. The press kit still promises new cups on a roughly three-week cadence after launch themes like Raisin Ridge and Citrus Seas.

STEAM and fruitgolf.com both emphasize cross-play: Steam and Quest golfers can share a lobby, and headset-free friends stay on phones. Solo practice exists if the party never shows up.
What to Watch on September 22
Three open items remain. Steam has not posted a public PRICE on the “Coming soon” page as of September 20. MIXED noted the same gap on September 18. And while Frame Verified is already on the Great on Frame shelf, day-one buyers should CONFIRM whether their purchase email window and regional Steam storefront show the 1.0 build live before inviting the group chat.

For a category still short on true PARTY VR that does not strand the couch, Fruit Golf’s September 22 Steam 1.0 is the clearest near-term TEST of whether asymmetrical design — one headset, many phones — can travel from Quest Early Access onto Valve’s Frame catalog without LOSING the JOKE.
