Hello Games released No Man’s Sky update 7.10, “Forsaken,” on October 28, 2026. It is a Halloween-season content drop built around collectible “haunting mementos,” a new class of trader, biomechanical corvette parts and a Larva Cannon Multi-Tool. It also launches the full game on iOS. For the VR audience, the important lines sit near the bottom of the official 7.10 patch notes: a “significant memory optimisation for VR” and a fix for the Analysis Visor in left-handed VR on Windows Mixed Reality controllers.

What the Forsaken update adds
According to Hello Games, the headline features in 7.10 are:
- Haunting mementos. Collectible “biological samples” now appear at infested outposts, deep-space hulks, derelict freighters and planetary digsites. Harvesting them for too long draws hostile “boundary horrors.”
- Forsaken traders. These vendors can be summoned at space outposts. They swap mementos for new corvette modules, including the Vantage, Hornet, Viper and Mantis cockpits, Legion-class habitation modules and biomechanical hull pieces.
- Larva Cannon and Larva Tank. Traders sell a living Larva Cannon Multi-Tool for preserved grubs. Dedicated collectors can earn the Larva Tank helmet override and the “Mind Harvester” title.
- Seamless warping. Stars in nearby systems can now be targeted and flown to directly from space, without opening the Galaxy Map.
- Space courier missions. Players with a corvette and a Gravitino Coil can take package delivery contracts from deep-space outposts.
- Minimal HUD mode and a Multi-Tool wheel. The compass, hazard bars and mission notifications can be reduced to a “Minimal” setting, and Multi-Tool modes can be picked from a radial menu.
- Space Holo-Arenas and uploadable space bases. Creature battles now run at deep-space outposts, and orbital builds can be uploaded to the shared server for other players to visit.
The same release brings the full game to iOS with a touch-first interface. Hello Games says the iOS engine has been tuned for battery life and heat during long sessions.
What it means for VR players
No Man’s Sky remains one of the largest full games playable in VR. It runs on PC VR through SteamVR and on PlayStation VR2 on PS5. Forsaken does not add VR-specific content, but two engine changes matter for headset players:
- A “significant memory optimisation for VR.” Hello Games did not publish figures, so the real-world effect is not yet measured. Memory pressure is a common cause of stutter and crashes in long VR sessions, especially in a game that streams whole planets, so this is the line most VR players should watch for in early reports.
- A left-handed VR fix. The Analysis Visor now works correctly in left-handed mode on Windows Mixed Reality motion controllers. Microsoft has wound down Windows Mixed Reality, but many PC VR players still use those headsets.
The new Minimal HUD option is aimed at immersion in general. Hello Games’ notes do not say whether it changes the VR interface, so we will confirm that in play rather than assume it. Seamless warping is a broader change to how players move between systems, and it removes one menu trip that is clumsier with motion controllers than with a gamepad.
For PC VR owners on newer hardware, the timing is useful. Valve’s Steam Frame is shipping in limited numbers, and PS VR2 can also run PC VR games through Sony’s adapter. See our PS VR2 on PC adapter guide and our guide on how to play PC VR games on Quest 3 and 3S if you want to take the update into a headset.
Price and platforms
Forsaken is a FREE update for existing owners, in line with every major No Man’s Sky update since 2016. The game is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and now iOS. VR play requires the PC version with a SteamVR-compatible headset, or PS5 with PS VR2.
The bigger picture
Large flat-screen games with full VR modes are still rare, and No Man’s Sky has kept its VR support alive across years of updates. Forsaken follows other recent PC VR improvements, such as the Half-Life: Alyx foveated rendering update. It also joins the wave of seasonal content covered in our Halloween VR events roundup. For buyers weighing new hardware, our Steam Frame review coverage covers battery and streaming trade-offs that matter for long sessions in a game like this.
