Rokid says Counterpoint Research ranked it NO. 1 worldwide in the AR and AI glasses segment by shipment share in the FIRST HALF of 2026, with 41 PERCENT of units shipped in that category. The Sept. 28 PR Newswire release — and follow-ups from DIGITIMES and Gadget Pilipinas — frames that LEAD as a continuation of H2 2025, when Counterpoint named Rokid the LEADING waveguide-based AR glasses OEM by shipments.

That is a DIFFERENT slice of the market than the broader “AI glasses” headline Counterpoint published earlier this month. Display-less frames still DOMINATE overall volume — Meta’s Ray-Ban line is the familiar example — while Rokid’s claim sits in the DISPLAY-ENABLED AR and AI glasses bucket, where shipments JUMPED 449 PERCENT year over year in H1 2026. Overall AI glasses shipments ROSE 263 PERCENT YoY in the same window, per the same Counterpoint figures Rokid cites.
What Rokid ships into that segment
Rokid’s glasses use a waveguide projection system to put translation, navigation, teleprompting, and other overlays into the wearer’s field of view. The company says a SINGLE device can run OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and Qwen, and that an embedded first-person camera can describe what the wearer sees — including for users with visual impairments. Frames weigh about 49 GRAMS and take snap-on prescription lenses.

“The bigger story beneath the numbers is that consumers want their wearables to do MORE,” said Zoro Shao, Rokid Group Vice President and Global General Manager, in the release. He tied the firm’s push into AGENTIC experiences to Counterpoint’s view that agentic AI glasses will DRIVE the NEXT growth phase.

Europe retail and a browser-based studio
Beyond North America and China, Rokid says it has ENTERED GERMANY and FRANCE through local retailers and dedicated regional sites. Its developer community is listed at 35,000 members. At IFA Berlin 2026 the company announced GLOBAL availability of AIUI STUDIO, a browser-based platform for building smart-glasses experiences — coverage that sat alongside the shipment ranking rather than replacing it.

For Metaverse Watcher readers tracking Meta Connect’s camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Samsung’s Android XR glasses filings, and Apple’s Vision Pro life-support chatter, Rokid’s Counterpoint ranking is a REMINDER that the WAVEGUIDE AI-glasses tier is already CONTESTED — and that shipment share there can move independently of the display-less Meta-heavy totals. Absolute unit counts and regional splits were not published in the PR; treat the 41 percent figure as a CATEGORY share until Counterpoint’s full tables land publicly.
